When a cowboy meets the guy from the city, he can't know how much things will change.
On the spur of the moment, with his life collapsing around him, Jay Sullivan answers an ad for a business manager with an expertise in marketing, on a dude ranch in Montana.
With his sister Ashley, niece Kirsten, and nephew Josh in tow, he moves lock stock and barrel from New York to Montana to start a new life on Crooked Tree Ranch.
Foreman and part owner of the ranch, ex rodeo star Nathaniel "Nate" Todd has been running the dude ranch for five years ever since his mentor Marcus Allen became ill.
His brothers convince him that he needs to get an expert in to help the business grow. He knows things have to change and but when the new guy turns up, with a troubled family in tow - he just isn't prepared for how much.

If you could sum up Crooked Tree Ranch in three words, what would they be?
friends and familyWhat did you like best about this story?
I loved the family relationships. No matter what was going on, taking care of family was the most important thing to both Jay and Nate.Which character – as performed by Sean Crisden – was your favorite?
Jay, though I think Sean Crisden did a great job with every character, as he always does.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It definitely had highs and lows, but it wasn't a laugh out loud or cry hysterically kind of story.Any additional comments?
This was a great book, and I recommend it both for the story and for the narration.I was given this book at my request, in return for an honest review.

What made the experience of listening to Crooked Tree Ranch the most enjoyable?
The relationships between family members and the love they have for each other. What was one of the most memorable moments of Crooked Tree Ranch?
The club scene when Jay and Nate finally give in to their attraction.Did Sean Crisden do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
It was okay, I've listened to other books he's narrated and just not one my favoritesIf you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Home on the range...Any additional comments?
It was a nice story with well developed characters and relationships. I felt like Nate and Jay's romance/relationship was an afterthought in whole book. Their first kiss was 4 hours in to an 6 hour audio book. The sex scenes seemed rushed. It was a little frustrating. But if you want a book that is not all about the sex and more about the build up to a long term relationship, you will enjoy this story.Sweet Story

Would you listen to Crooked Tree Ranch again? Why?
Oh yes! It was very good. What was one of the most memorable moments of Crooked Tree Ranch?
There are a few - when Jay gets on a horse again after being with Nate, when Jay has to talk to Henry - an old timer who isn't politically correct, but most of all when Henry decks a man because the man hits women and children, it's touching and funny.Have you listened to any of Sean Crisden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
He gave a solid performance here - I could distinguish between each character. My only niggle is that he sometimes narrates a little fast? But that's just me.Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Once Nate and Jay had gone on their first date, Nate laid out the 'ground rules' for their relationship - it was endearing. I loved how their relationship clicked into place after that.Any additional comments?
I loved Nate and Jay- they worked well together. I admired Jay for his strength and his belief that things would work out. I liked that Nate once he made up his mind about something, he went for it.I loved the audio ( I don't have the ebook yet, but plan to) and plan on getting the rest of the series.
While I gifted this audiobook by the author, I was not required to share my thoughts and opinions.
Really good story, solid narration

I really like the set up to the series. The ranch seems like a nice place to live and I love the three Todd brothers that partly own and help run the ranch. I worry about the aging rancher that is also a part owner, he seemed so nice, though there were a few moments that a certain attitude bled through and I began to question the nice guy. There is no real conclusion to that so I don't know if we'll get more insight in book two.
In this book, the ranch is having financial troubles and they bring in a marketing consultant to help bring in more visitors. The new hire, Jay, brings his family, a sister and her two children. Jay's family really meshes well with the brothers. Though Jay doesn't exactly get along with Nate Todd right away. It's a battle of wills between them. They both find out the other is gay and though attraction is there, Nate fights against it until jealousy makes it impossible.
It's a sweet story between them. Once Nate decided to let go and engage in a love affair with an employee, there was not a lot of tension in the book. Most of the conflict in the book takes place between other characters and trying to save the ranch. A crusty, set in his ways ranch hand isn't real keen on political correctness but I have a little sympathy at his loneliness. My favorite part though, is when he joins with Jay to stop a bullying abuser.
I really did like the book, but it lacked a little bit of excitement for me. I'm really looking forward to reading book 2 of this series which seems to hold a bit more mystery and I hope we will get to revisit the ranch and the characters from Crooked Tree Ranch.
Interesting start to a series, can't wait for more
