To be “just friends” with a guy, you’ve got to follow The Rules: Don’t touch him unnecessarily. Don’t share your intimate dreams with him (even if he asks). Don’t kiss him, and definitely don’t sleep with him. Scout Dunne and I have been “just friends” since childhood. I’m one of the few people who knows the first-round NFL draft pick wants more than a life of sports.

Story
At 18, I walked away from Willow Creek Valley for good. I was young, scared, and stupid, and it cost me the love of my life - Grayson Parkerson. Fourteen years later, a crash sends me back home to recover. Back to where we met, fell in love, and planned a future. Working at The Park Inn together gives us a chance to reconnect, and seeing him with his little girl makes me long for the days when he was mine. I’m not the girl I was - intimidated by his wealthy family and desperate to escape our small town. How can I convince him to give first love a second chance?

We were never meant to be together. He’s a bartender with noncommittal tendencies. I’m looking for…the opposite. Commitment. Period. But drinks and a bet led to something it shouldn’t have: a fake relationship. Worse, a first date, a first kiss…and then more. He’s addictive and I can’t bring myself to accept the reality. That it’s all a lie and I’m fooling myself by thinking he could want more. That I could change him.

Story
It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace. He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had. Fast forward a decade. We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died. It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic. Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

I’d sworn off men. And then I met Nick Christiansen. Technically, I fell for him, literally, the moment I landed in his quarterback-sized arms and looked into those soulful eyes. I blame the rum. Or was it tequila? Spoiler alert: It was those delectable dimples. Either way, Nick was stupidly handsome and ridiculously charming. He held me like he cared and listened to me like I mattered. Captivated by great conversation and rock-hard abs, Nick had me reconsidering the “No Men” promise I’d made myself. I still regret walking away the next day.

In the middle of a crowded bar in our small Alaskan town, my estranged wife snuggles up to me as if we’re still a happy couple. Don’t get me wrong, we were a happy couple - before she walked out on me a year ago. We were the high school sweethearts everyone thought were destined to be together forever. We thought so, too, which is why we married shortly after graduation. We had a good marriage. Until she left me without any real explanation. Now, she’s back - and this is the real kicker - she has amnesia and thinks I’m still her husband.

I know finding and signing a military vet to the agency is a long shot - but it’ll be good press just letting him try out. That’s what I tell my family, rather than admit I can’t get the letter he wrote us five years ago out of my head. But what I tell the bartender in his hometown is a lie. I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student. Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep. I didn’t expect to develop feelings for Gunner Camden. And there’s no way I can admit to my lies now.

It was the perfect plan. I needed a wife - temporarily - in order to inherit the family business. And she needed a favor - the kind that takes nine months to deliver. We had it all worked out, from the no-touching policy on our wedding night (her rule) to the no-falling-in-love decree (mine). She’d marry me, I’d give her the means to have the baby she’d always wanted, and one year later we’d amicably part ways with no hassle, no demands, and certainly no regrets. After all, Bianca DeRossi and I are experts at infuriating one another - we’ve been doing it since we were kids.

We were supposed to run away after high school graduation. When she didn't show up at our meeting place, I gathered my courage and went after her. It was a mistake. I left bloodied and bruised. My heart didn't fare half as well. I had no choice but to walk away. Years passed. A decade. More. I traveled the world, settled halfway around the world, made myself a name and enough money that I didn't have to look back. But I never got over her. Publisher's Summary
He tasted like tequila and the fake name I gave him was Rose.
Four years ago, I decided to get over one man, by getting under another. A single night and nothing more.
I found my handsome stranger with a shot glass and charming but devilish smile at the end of the bar. The desire that hit his eyes the second they landed on me ignited a spark inside me, instant and hot. He was perfect and everything I didn’t know I needed. That one night may have ended, but I left with much more than a memory.
Four years later, and with a three-year-old in tow, the man I still dream about is staring at me from across the street in the town I grew up in. I don’t miss the flash of recognition, or the heat in his gaze.
The chemistry is still there, even after all these years.
I just hope the secrets and regrets don’t destroy our second chance before it’s even begun.

Secrets, lies and love triangle!!
Willow Winters wrote another amazing book. This book had secrets, lies, and love. Magnolia has had so much happen to her in her life that it only makes her stronger. She lives in a small town where everyone knows everyone. She went away to college and ends up meeting Brody and having a one night stand. Family issues causes her to return home abruptly.
Years later Brody ends up in the small town where Magnolia is from but he knows her by a different name 😉. The secrets and lies start to pile up on Magnolia. On one hand there is Robert, her childhood love and on the other hand is Brody whom she has this extreme connection to. The sparks between Brody and Magnolia is explosive!
I received this book as an ARC and I highly recommend reading. There is a cliffhanger and it leaves you wanting more. Who will Magnolia choose??

I should have taken a shot each time the author used this to describe the H’s smile. It had all the makings of a good story, a great narration team, but it fell short. I feel like I wasted a credit on an author I wanted to give a second chance. The story could have been so much better with more character development and less of the whiny slow burn. Just a boring lifetime movie in the making.

I hate cliffhangers!
I buy all of Willow Winters books. Some of these books I listen to or read a second time. Nowhere in the first book when I first purchased it did it tell me that there was going to be a follow on book I went back and checked before I left this review. When I know it’s going to be a duet I usually wait until the second book comes out so that I can read them back to back I’m extremely disappointed in this enough for me to leave a bad review for an author that I love to read and respect her abilities. Also, I love Sebastian York and his narrations however, I did not like the narration from Lydia Dornette, at all, it was a turn off to me when she spoke.

Who to Choose?
A cliffhanger!?! Grumble-Grumble! 😂 Seriously, this book was so good that I had a hard time putting it down to work. It’s not like any of her other books. I am used to her dark, mafia, alpha-male books. The men in Tequila Rose are gentlemen and kind. I don’t know how she’s going to choose between the two of them because I cannot tell you who I like best.
This is a very sweet love story. There are still some secrets that haven’t been revealed yet. I’m excited that we don’t have to wait too long for the second part of the story. Read this book!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My Thoughts on Tequila Rose
3.5 of 5 stars
So I'm struggling with my review for this one. I found the storyline itself to be really interesting. I'm a big fan of surprise or secret baby romance. So I definitely liked that aspect of the story. And I could even understand with everything that happens why there was the secrecy on one side. But as the story went on and I learned more about all of the different characters, that's the part that ended up not sitting right with me. I know it's okay to not love characters or really like them very much. And I always hope anyway that there will be characters that I love. And to be honest I loved Brody. And even Renee and Griffin the best friends are really likable characters. But I really didn't like Robert even if he was sometimes cast in a positive light. There are just certain things that I feel like he didn't do right by Magnolia enough for me to like him. And then there was Magnolia herself. I really wanted to like her. And there were moments when I almost felt like I was starting to get there. And if I'm completely honest I won't say that she's a bad character. I don't dislike her. I just don't really like her. And that unfortunately affects my overall enjoyment of a story sometimes. The plot can be good, the flow can be good, and there can be a handful of other good things that I can pick out that make me feel like "okay overall this was a good story". But what kept it from being a great story for me was that I don't know that I like the leading lady. There were just too many things that I felt like she could have and should have handled differently. And I know that not everyone is always going to handle things the way that you might. And of course I realize this is a fictional story. But she came across as a little weak to me. I love the strength that she showed as a single mom. And I definitely felt for her with all the things that she went through when she had to leave college. But at the same time I think that there were certain things that she could have and should have asked of certain people in her life. And I think that there are other things that she should have shown a bit more backbone about.
But after all is said and done, I don't know that my feelings for Magnolia would stop me from reading the second book. I still kind of want to know what is going to happen with all of this.
What I really liked was the narration. Both narrators did a good job and I loved being able to listen to their performance.

"I really like kissing you."
After having her heart broken by Robert, Magnolia decides to throw caution to the wind one night and indulges in the company Brody is offering. Four years later, Brody arrives in her small little town and wants a second chance but between the secrets that Magnolia is hiding, her three-year-old little girl and Robert wanting his second chance, everything is a tangled mess.
I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the conclusion of it in Autumn Night Whiskey. Magnolia has gone through a lot and I truly felt for her and her little girl. I am voting for Brody as I am not a huge fan of Robert and there is something about him I just do not like. This was not my first story from Willow Winters and I am looking forward to diving into more of her books.
Audio: Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet did a good job of bringing the story to life and their voices worked well together as Brody and Magnolia. This was my first book with Lidia as a narrator and I enjoyed listening to her.

Quite enjoyable.
This was a cute and lighthearted listen in comparison to her other books. Light on the romance, almost no steam (again, in comparison to her other books), and pretty clean save for some swearing. Till chapter 20 when it gets a bit spicey.
Ends on a cliffhanger.

Perfect Small Town Romance
A small town romance with a big longing heart, Tequila Rose is a perfect audiobook for these cold wintery months.
Magnolia's life is going along quite nicely until she bumps into Brody, the guy she hasn't seen in four years. The chemistry and attraction is still very strong, but Maggie's life is more complicated now, and she is forced to confront secrets she has kept to herself.
This book has a lovely, charming, warm and endearing quality. It is a tale of a classic love affair. Brody and Maggie seem so perfect for each other, but the past has a way of intervening in the present.
This is such a lovely story. The main characters are so likeable, engaging and relatable. I am hooked and looking forward to completing this series.
