Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Publisher's Summary
So...you'd think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark's life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions.
Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal.
Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn't go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul? Find out in the next spectacular installment in the House of Night Series, Tempted.

MacMillan Audio- Stop Changing Narrator's
I could not be believe my ears, they changed the Narrator yet again, only this time it is worse than Hunted Narrator Jenna Lamia (who sounded 11).
Cassandra Morris sounds like she is maybe 8 yrs old and her pronunciation of the author's terminology is dare I say childish.
Please I encourage everyone to write MacMillan Audio and the Author's and beg them to please, please go back to Edwina Wren.

Couldn't Finish It
I tried on several occasion to get through this book but my ears could not take the narrator. I listened to about 2.5 hours over three days in the hopes that over time I might adjust but not only is her reading bland and boring but her inflection at the end of almost EVERY sentence is so distracting that it's all I hear.
Even my fiance picked up on it within about a minute of listening. Normally if I don't like the reader I can adjust and eventually finish the book and or come around, but I have no intentions of even trying to get through the rest of this book. I also have no intentions of EVER purchasing or listening to anything else by Cassandra Morris and will be writing some feedback to Macmillan audio. Not just for continuing to switch readers (Books 1-3 were a different publishing company, but 4-7 are macmillan and there are 3 readers) but also for failing to do anything even resembled listening to the final product. Words with the same spelling but have different meanings when pronounced differently were inproperly read. (E.g. Bow - as in bow and arrow or to bow up one's chest). This lack of attention to detail AND terrible narration make this the first book audiobook (out of about 100) that I couldn't finish. Hopefully someone reads this prior to putting any $$$ in Macmillons pocket!!!

Horrible Narration
I started listening to the series because my wife likes it and would put it on at bed time. I got interested in the story and have been following along. The series is a bit too "teen romance" for me, but the story isn't bad.
The narrators for the first five books were o.k. - not much skill in voice modulation or theatric presentation, but at least appropriate to the age of the main character - Zoey, a 17 year old girl.
The narrator for this book, however, is one of the worst I have had the misfortune of listening to. She sounds like she is 8 years old and has a high-pitched, nasal voice that reminds me of "Alvin and the Chipmunks". The narrator also mispronounces several words, and tends to increase the pitch of her voice when portraying other female characters - which makes this audio book truly painful to listen to.
Unless you enjoy the sound of finger nails scraping a chalkboard, you should save your ears and get the dead-tree version of the book.

Reader is distracting
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The reader sounds like Nala or Simba as kids from The Lion King. Most 16 year olds I have met are pretending to be adults at least. Many of the words are changed to be more appropriate for.young listeners which does not sound.like the authors writing and is very distracting from the story line. The book was a lot more enjoyable to read.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Cassandra Morris?
Unsure, but someone with a less annoying rendition.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
If they did not use 13 year olds for the lead roles.

OUCH! It was painful to listen to!
I already have a pet peeve about narrators being changed during series novels. A reader gets used to the characters being presented in a certain way, and it is annoying when there is a change. But this narrator, Cassandra Morris, sounds like she is about 5 years old. The language, story line, and some of the dialogue is rather adult, and to hear it coming out of a "pre-schooler's" mouth is nothing short of disturbing and extremely distracting. I wish that I knew who was in charge of casting these audio productions so that I could offer my hearty complaints.

Great Books with only 1 Problem
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I really loved EVERY book in this series... my ONLY complaint is when you have a book series with multiple narrarators throughout the series, please make sure that they pronounce the words the same as the previous narrarator. Each New Reader pronounces certain words diffrently... and they are Important words that you hear frequently so when they are so Drastically changed from one book to another it really catches me off guard and pulls me out of the story.

Horrible Narrator
It's bad enough we had to have the voice of the story change once, but we got used to it and it still worked out. but this person is not narrating she's reading and the most frustrating part is, if I were to find out i'd be narrating a series that already had other narrators i would have listened to the other narrators! she's not even pronouncing the words or names the same! not doing the voices it's very dissapointing. This person also did the voice for the wicked series and it's the same complaint she's reading it, too monotone and no feeling but at least it had some continuinty.

Buy the book, it's painful to listen.
After the huge mistake changing Edwina Wren to Jenna Lamia, this is too much to take. I'd rather take Jenna than this narrator. The first two made you feel like you were in the story, this one, is READING IT TO YOU.
My choice for narrator would be Edwina, if not bring back Jenna, at least you could tell when the characters changed with her.
I will buy the actual book to be able to enjoy it better.

bad narration
After listening to the previous books with excellent narration and accents this book came as a major shock to me. I am sorry but a narrator who cannot do the accents required or the appropriate age of the characters in her voice as part of her performance sets my teeth on edge. A brilliant book is ruined like this, all I can say is thank God she only does book 6 and later books are another narrator. My advice would be if you want to have this book buy it in print and get the others around it in audio, even brilliant writing cannot save a bad performance.

Tempted
This is in my opinion the most powerful book of the series to date. Unlike the others, this story is told from multiple viewpoints, which was a plus for me as Zoe is a character I don't particularly like, and I got to spend time in the heads of the characters I do. Also unlike the others, this book has a real cliffhanger of an ending which sets up the next book perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the narrator. I've had Cassandra Morris before and never liked her as a reader, but she does an excellent job this time. Yet again though, the reader is different for the next book. That makes the fourth reader this series has had. I can promise readers that Tempted really does live up to its name and you won't be tempted to do anything else while reading it.

I love this series a lot! Its one of my all-time faves... but this one book let me down... Not by the storyline or the wording or anything like that, It was Narrator: Cassandra Morris. Her Stevie Rae was terrible, Shawnee, Erin, Jack, Damien, Grandma and Aphrodite, Neferet, and even Zoey was too very very Bad... When you have one person Start a series that is as long as HoN then Stick to that one person. In this case, Caitlin Davies. she was perfect. Her bitchiness, Okieness, twins and Gayness was perfect for this series. I'm so glad that they bring her back... :)
BTW I may be 14 But that doesn't mean I have nothing to say... Lub yall; Mean It!
