“Funny, perceptive, and moving,” raved USA Today of the first novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares, author of The Here and Now.

Some friends just fit together.

Once there was a pair of pants. Just an ordinary pair of jeans. But these pants, the Traveling Pants, went on to do great things. This is the story of the four friends—Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen—who made it possible.

“Uplifting.” —Seventeen

“An outstanding and vivid book that will stay with readers for a long time.” —Publishers Weekly, Starred, Flying Start

“A complex book about a solid group of friends, with each one a strong and courageous individual in her own right. They form a true sisterhood of acceptance and support, resulting in a believable and inviting world.”—School Library Journal, Starred

“A feel-good novel of substance. . . . Move over, Ya-Ya Sisters.”—Kirkus Reviews, Starred

“The loving depiction of enduring and solid friendship will ring true to readers, who will appreciate this recognition of one of life’s most important relationships.”—The Bulletin, Recommended

"The pants are just pants, and life is just life, full of joys, sorrows, living, and dying. This is the charm of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Carmen, Lena, Bridget, and Tibby are growing to adulthood, and Brashares accurately portrays one glorious, painful summer in their evolution. Young teens will identify with one, or even all four, of these interesting, funny young women, and they'll be on the lookout for their own pair of traveling pants." --Booklist

"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was enjoyable and meaningful at the same time, and that's sometimes a hard thing to find in YA literature." --VOYA

"Each girl's story is distinct and engrossing, told in a brightly contemporary style. Like the Pants, the reader bounces back and forth among the four unfolding adventures, and the melange is spiced with letters and witty quotes. Ann Brashares has here created four captivating characters and seamlessly interwoven their stories for a young adult novel that is fresh and absorbing." --Amazon.com

Reasonably entertaining, though sometimes a bit too childish, but able to open to the reader a number of issues of teen-aged angst in a variety of circumstances.

I enjoyed this a lot -- it's light hearted, not trite and the narrator is easy to listen to

What made the experience of listening to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants the most enjoyable?

I got wrapped up into the stories of all these characters and felt like I was part of the sisterhood. Brashares weaves a great story and brings the emotions of the characters out so that you can get to know them. Goethais keeps true to the characters and their stories throughout the performance.

Cute little story. I thought well of reading the book before watching the movie because in the end the movie turned out to be disappointing in comparison.
I think this book appeals to a younger crowd, even if for older people it can be regardless a beach read or (what I did) a perfect listen while doing house cleaning!!
I especially enjoyed Lena's story and since I noticed it continues in the next book I'm looking forward to hearing what happens next.
To end this review... even if the book has a simple storyline it leaves you something at the end and has a nice moral, this is what I define a good book.

Enjoyable
