This Story Is Sweet

Publisher's Summary

Izzy Lawson has taken her last abuse.

When her husband dies, she has a choice to make: Go home, and face the family who made her stay with the beast, or head to Belle Fourche to the only friend she has left. The reserve she's worked so hard to build crumbles in the verdant rolling hills, and in the arms of a man so different from her husband.

Conrad Oleson can't read, and it's shamed him for longer than he can remember.

When another teacher shows up on his front step, he's sure his brother is meddling, again. But when Izzy reveals her painful past, he can't stay away. And if learning to read brings him closer to her, he'll do about anything for her including teaching her how to love.

Don't miss this sweet western cowboy romance. Can a widow scarred by her husband finally get her happily ever after? This book was originally published in the Timeless Love: Romantic Stories That Span the Ages collection.

Teach me to Love

I enjoyed listening to this book. Seeing Izzy grow from a scared woman who had been mentally abused to a woman who could stand on her own two feet. And seeing Conrad get confidence in himself was great. Looking forward to the next books!

Great Start to a new series!

This is a story or how a woman who has to make the best of a terrible situation and meets a man who is living with personal shame. They both learn that friendship, compassion, and love can bring comfort and peace to both of their lives.

I liked this story because Izzy is living a situation that is very plausible in the era of this story as well as Conrad's personal shame. Both were written well and the plot was like one out of a good tv western. It got me excited about this whole series.

J. Scott Bennett brings his slightly raspy, western twang to bring that western flair to Kari’s story. I was pleased that he made all of the characters sound genuine and original. He is a good partner for Kari's series.

A wonderful story!

Isabelle's past tore here apart. It will take the love Conrad gives to help her heal. But someone wants Conrad dead. Isabelle must let go of the past and find herself to help save her heart's desire.
This story grabs the heart and never holds back.

patience, love and tenderness

Belle has had a rough life. She was working towards her teaching degree when she fell for the sweet talking senior teacher. She was married to an abusive man before she knew it and was forced to quit her education. Now she's finally free and going to stay with her best friend and family to recuperate. Belle did not count on meeting her friend's brooding brother-in-law. Conrad has the weight of his family's farm on his shoulders and he has a huge secret...he can't read. He believes that he will never find someone that he can trust enough to settle down and start a family...that is until he meets Belle. Both Belle and Conrad have secrets and need patience, love and tenderness to mend them. Sweet story filled with the Fruit of the Spirit.

Great Book

I thought this was a great book. I am not a fan of romance novels but this is a great Christian one that I highly recommend to anyone.

Clever title for a good book!

This was an enjoyable Christian, old West romance. It was interesting how the two main characters were each trying to teach the other one the life lesson which was needed. A well written plot with great characters. The narration brought the book to life. A love story well worth listening to.

Great Book

Teach Me to Love by Kari Trumbo was a great read. I absolutely loved reading Conrad and Izzy's story. Izzy's husband died after years of abuse. She isn't sure where her life would take her now. She meets Conrad and things start changing for her. I loved reading Izzy and Conrad's story.

Heartwarming Christian Romance

This was entirely enjoyable, heartwarming and such a sweet Christian romance. The story of a young abused widow and a cowboy who struggles with his illiteracy. It was a bit of the predictable romance type, but it was such a sweet telling of the story that it made it a very fun read. The narrator did a wonderful job and was fun to listen to. I definitely would recommend to those who enjoy a good Christian romance free of bad language and sex scenes.

Really draws you in

This is not my normal genre but I really liked this story.
Very realistic. I loved the way the characters were portrayed.
Many of us have troubled pasts, many of us still have troubled presents.
It is always good to hear of someone that treats you as you should be treated... With Love and kindness no matter the past you have had forced on you or chosen to live. Make your own choice and choose to love.

Grab me this great audio

This is not my first Kari Trumbo story. Her stories have a great love story that is clean and true . This story is no different. It touches the heart with heartache , hope and joy.
This story shows that even though you think there is nowhere to turn never give up hope . This story also shows you when you have a disastor of a marriage eventually you will find your true love just be patience. That is what happens in this story . The female and male in this story save each other and in doing so find love

Scott Bennett did a great work on this story . His voice is smooth, strong and clear .

Sweet story

This book was a story of hurt, recovery, accomplishment and happiness. It involved a woman who suffered verbal abuse from her husband and who did not have the support of her family to cope. She moves to a small town to teach and there she is allowed to recover and discovers there is more to life.

The story is short and sweet and the narration is outstanding as this narrator has always been.
