Publisher's Summary

Determined to fulfill her dream of becoming a chef and winning a coveted scholarship to study cooking in Italy, Ki Blake rushes in late to the first class of her final semester at Kirkwood Culinary Academy and is stopped in her tracks by Taryn Ellis, the school's newest instructor. A beautiful and accomplished chef, Taryn has walked away from her promising career in the city's top restaurant to devote her life to her five-year-old daughter. Ki and Taryn try their best to resist the urge to give in to the undeniable chemistry between them. And when at last they begin a passionate affair that must be kept a secret, they are each convinced it's only a short-term fling. It's up to both Ki and Taryn to decide whether they have found something genuine or whether the taste of romance is truly enough to satisfy.

Taste-y Treat!

Would you consider the audio edition of Taste to be better than the print version?

The audio is really good, but the book is better.

What other book might you compare Taste to and why?

There aren't too many writers in the genre who write in first person present tense so I can't really compare this book to others. It's a sweet, contemporary romance that's light, yet full of chemistry. Steamy, sexy, and fun.

What does Brittni Pope bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great accents.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Very funny, emotional and made me cry in a good way.

Romance for Foodies

Love this story. The narration of Taryn’s accent is fantastic and the women are sweet and likable with just enough angst and steam. Even though the characters have a teacher/student relationship, the relationship never seems like it’s dominated by either character. The women have an equal partnership and they both respect each other’s feelings as their lust and love grow. I’ve listened to this a few times. Sweet feel good romances are my favorites and this one does not disappoint.

I love the story just not the reading so much

the story line was heart and I love a happy ending, however the reading wasn't so great and differentiating the characters. She also read way too fast .... Like there was no pause in her reading.

Great story

Beautiful fun story. Low angst but good tension. Kris Bryant’s writing is always beautiful!

I’m a fan of Britini Pope. I love her voice. But this narration was sub par for her. Audio quality was inconsistent, she lacked emotion in some really important scenes- just route reading, and she misnamed the main character and misread some words a couple times.

Would still recommend this audio because the writing is beautiful and the narrators voice is still pleasant enough. But having heard Britini previously, I know she can do better!

Everything tastes so good😉

As usual, Ms. Bryant offers us a very tasty love story filled with a number of important issues, such as being a good mother, and especially the discrimination in educational institutions and in the work place.
But this is a lovely simmering and passionate tale of two smart and talented women who find a way to make delicious lemonade flavored with love and commitment.
Thank you once again for your talented writing skills.

Great story, narration has some issues

LOVE this story. I read it first, then bought the audiobook. It’s fun and hot, and who doesn’t love a chef-on-chef romance? The narration ultimately was not my favorite though. The uneven sound quality borders on unacceptable (people pay a lot of money for these audiobooks). I agree with some other reviewers who have mentioned how quickly the narrator reads; she doesn’t really observe natural pauses, page breaks or character beats. I can’t comment on the accent she uses for Taryn, as it sounded fine to my ears, but I am not South African. I have read some very harsh reviews about her performances on other works and I will say that to me it wasn’t as bad as all that; just not great. But I don’t think I’ll be paying to listen to anything else she’s narrated if the sound quality is the same as it was here. There are too many other narrators who manage to produce higher quality audio.

Food and Love...

Bryant churns out another outstanding novel and has failed to disappoint.  I was drawn to this novel by the title alone, and I was glad I picked it up... this is one for the history records. This novel is one that is paired perfectly... food is an ultimate aphrodisiac. The fact that Ki falls for her culinary instructor allows the reader to become that more interested.
One thing that I enjoy about Bryant's novels is that her characters don't beat around the bush about their feelings for one another... They are able to recognise their emotions as well as any complications that may arise. It's rewarding when the characters are able to let their guard down and embrace each other tenderly.
Bryant has a way of praising her characters in a way that allows the reader to connect with them on an emotional level and sometimes physical.
Although I have realised it is a common theme among Bryant's storylines,  she has a way of not making it appear as repetitive.  Each story is new and a refreshing concept, and I am anxious to enjoy another. I quite  fancy Bryant's novels because each is told as though she's experienced the subject personally. I find myself wanting more... more novels by Kris Bryant!

Brilliant and well worth it!

Really enjoyed every minute of it. Sounded like someone's true experience. Also, yay for Cape Town characters!
