Ben Dooley is a perfect reader for ERB

Ben Dooley is a perfect reader of ERB works. I hope he continues with the Tarzan books he hasn’t gotten to yet and then moves on to the other series and stand alone books. I will get them all.

Tarzan the Terrible is among my least favorite of the Tarzan, or any of the ERB books, for that matter.

With that written, it has its moments, and it does have some of the ERB magic. And the Dooley performance makes all the difference in the world. I returned the other recording of this book back when it was the only one available on Audible. The two things I remember about the performance is Tarzan sounded like a Texan and when the creatures called to each other it sounded like a farmer calling pigs. The Dooley performance makes the story okay, the best it can be. But I recommend this book only if you are interested in all of ERB’s works and if you plan to cleanse your mental palette with other ERB books afterwards.

I expect to return to listen to this book in the future, which says something.
