To many subplots 🤨

This one wasn't one of my favorites in the series. To many subplots and the book was all over the place.

Patterson is losing it.

Alex Cross used to be a great character but has turned into a second rate detective along with his unintelligent head of detective wife, Bree. Patterson has dumbed both of them down and it’s excrutisting listening to the awful narrator reading awful writing. Just about every character in the book is not believable because of the moronic dialogue. Also, Cross has turned into a braggart with his three exceptionally bright and talented kids. A D1 basketball superstar, a track star recruited by the best track colleges in the country, and a budding junior Einstein who has turned into a better detective than his dad. Totally unbelievable. And for Christ sakes, kill off Nana Mana already! The story was good, but I can’t say I enjoyed any of tbe characters. I’ve been an Alex Cross fan since day 1, but I am done. Patterson needs to spend more time on his signature character rather than spending time on the 20 books a year he co authors.

Meh

Good but not great. Narrator 's voice just doesn't fit Cross. No real reval or real interactions with puppetmasters. The best part of the story was the teaser at the end. That's the book I want to hear.

Not his best

As has been stated, not the best Alex Cross book.-- too much nonsense that isn't related to the story. What really bothers me though is the narrator. While his enunciation is impeccable, it's as though he has no grasp whatsoever of what it is he's narrating. He continually emphasizes the wrong words in the sentence, often completely changing the meaning from what the author intended. He's just reading out loud without understanding what it is he's reading. And his attempts at a British accent are laughable (though his Russian accent isn't half bad).

All in all, Mr. Blake has made the audio version of the book even less enjoyable than it might otherwise have been.

Fact checking

I’m roughly half way through and I am enjoying the story. However something has been nagging at me since the portion of the story that took place at a college basketball game. NCAA division I men’s basketball games are played in two 20 minute halves. Not four quarters as portrayed in the story. Otherwise good story.

Loved it!

Really enjoyed the book and as always I was on the edge of my seat! I've really liked all the Alex Cross books I've read! This one even leaves you with a Cliff hanger. I can't wait to start the next book to see what's going to happen!!!

The voice of the person reading did not sound like "Alex Cross" though. Other than that it was another good book.

convoluted and scattered

Sorry. Have read all of Patterson's Alex Cross novels. This one misses the mark. Rather dull and quite confusing though the premise was good initially. Too many killers, too much intrigue, and a hard to follow story as well.
Maybe I've just grown tired of the Cross family entirely, but I don't need to hear about the children and good ole Nana Mama anymore. Moreover, when Patterson spends many pages detailing Cross son's college basketball game (which was totally unnecessary anyway), he should get facts right. college basketball is played in halves, not quarters, so when he talks about the final seconds of the 4th quarter , he is factually incorrect!

Anyway, didn't like it period, and wouldn't recommend it

Worst Alex Cross yet

I like the Alex cross series but this is the worst. Bad story. Too much violence. Overly dramatic.
