Publisher's summary

James Van Praagh is a spiritual medium - someone who is able to bridge the physical and spiritual worlds. Unaware of his spiritual gifts until he was in his 20s, he slowly came to terms with his unique abilities. In addition, many of his sessions with grieving people who came to him looking to contact the spirits of deceased loved ones are explored.

From a devastated mother recieving a message of hope from her deceased little girl to communicating with a young man, killed in Vietnam, who doesn't realize he's dead, the theme of hope and peace in the afterlife is affirmed.

Van Praagh also helps the listener recognize and positively deal with the pain of grief in a healthy, honest manner. Part spiritual memoir, part case study, part instrumental guide, Talking to Heaven will change the way you perceive death...and life.

not authentic!

far more"detail" than is believable...what spirits think, do, how they evaluate worldly & spirit life, what they believe about...well every subject imaginable. odd that other well known accepted mediums don't know all that he claims to know.

Excellent compilation of after life

While I disagree with the theological insights of James, I loved the different experiences of departed loved ones communicating with those left here on earth. Having had similar experiences, not through a medium, I know they are real. I also really like his advice and counsel for grieving in the last chapters. A lot of truth - esp non judgment and love is the key. Highly recommend.

Excellent, all around

This is a GREAT book. Equal parts practical guidance and real world stories. Straight to the point so it’s moderate in length. Narrarator is excellent. The only thing that needs work is the book cover art... doesn’t do right by the contents! Highly recommended.

A lot of new ideas here but light on evidence

The last 3 chapters were on grieving and learning how to speak with spirits which I don’t have an interest in and it left the first parts feeling unfinished. He gave a lot of his opinions without evidence, like the idea that there are stages of afterlife and the higher your evolution the higher stage you get to, or an alarming idea that an angry executed criminal could come back to affect susceptible persons. It’s not that I don’t think these could be true but there was no evidence to support these ideas. Overall, it was enlightening but left me feeling unsure of some of the concepts.

Love Never Dies

Roughly 23 years ago I bought this book for a neighbor named Phyllis who had lost her son Dustin in an accident. She was very comforted by the contents of Mr. Van Praagh's writings. I have been somewhat of a grief counselor ever since. This book should be in everyone's personal library as a personal reference manual. I am buoyed by the knowledge and anticipation of an inevitable reunion with my beloved ancestors, friends, acquaintances, unborn children and my beloved cat.

Did not like

James tries to scare people into believing there is a terrible limbo state where suicide victims go. Imagine being a family member and reading this! It’s sounds awful (if you choose to believe this). We are supposed to be loved by god not condemned by him. Very contradictory! Awful to hear.
Also I didn’t like how the narrator tried to speak in a female voice when reading the part of a female. Quite creepy.

James Van Praagh’s first book.

This book was wonderfully read by Dan Woren. I have always been a huge admirer of James Van Praagh’s books and this is no exception.
