Publisher's Summary

All across the world, people suddenly vanish in the blink of an eye. From their cars during the rush hour commute. From shopping malls. Their homes. Their beds. Even from the arms of their loved ones. Airline pilots. World leaders. Teachers. Parents. Children. Gone.

Steve, Charlie, and Frank were just trying to get home when it happened. Now they find themselves left behind and wishing they'd disappeared, too. Trapped in the ultimate traffic jam, they watch as civilization collapses, claiming the souls of those around them. God has called his faithful home, but the invitations for Steve, Charlie, and Frank got lost. Now they must set off on foot through a nightmarish postapocalyptic landscape in search of answers. In search of God. In search of their loved ones. And in search of home.

Take the long way home

This was an excellent story on the line that the 'rapture' happens for real'.A trumpet sounds and people dissapear.Crashes of all kinds happen. All Stephen wants is to get back to P.A. and his wife.Civilization devolves fast.A really good story.Chet Williamson was a terrific narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Nice short intense book.

I read this years ago, but I like the audible version better. This is a very intense book that has pepple disappearing, changing and just trying to get home.

Reminds of Left Behind Series but with different angle

I liked that it held my interest right away. I am a believer but shy away from organized religion. Great story. I hope he writes sequels.

Waste of my time.

There is no twist, there is no surprise. I predicted every single thing that happened. I read a review that said plot twist. Usually if a book is this bad I won’t finish it. I waited for a plot twist that never came. Hey if you want a standard rendition of the rapture then by all means purchase this.

I could have gotten this story from John Hagee

I usually really like Brian Keene's books. BUT, this book reminds me of the Rapture People and all of their nonsense. He said it was from a "secular point of view" and yet I think it's the same old crap that I've had to endure for many, many years. I hated this book, For anyone who has ever been traumatized as a kid or adult using anything religious then you might want to avoid this one. For all those who are fans of the Rapture, Tribulation or the Left Behind series/movies/whatever, then this is right up your alley. .
