A SUPER short read!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes indeed. it's short, sexy, steamy and I love Sean Crisden's narration skills.

What other book might you compare Super Sock Man to and why?

Blue Days by Mary Calmes. Both are short and steamy and well told by excellent narrators.

What about Sean Crisden’s performance did you like?

I always like Crisden's chops, in fact, I've bought books just because he narrated them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile!

Any additional comments?

Fan's of the series know Donnie as troubled character Chase's best friend. I've always wanted to know more about his character and how the relationship with Chase first formed. Childhood friends, Donnie and Chase discover a lot about themselves through their friendship. The difference between the two in high school is, Donnie came out, and Chase stayed in the shadows.

Donnie is young, slightly naive and totally innocent but certain about who he is and who he wants, his sisters best friend Alejandro. It's his infatuation with the slightly older and completely open young man that helps Donnie decide to be honest with his family about his sexuality. His fantasy comes to life while he's house sitting and accidentally falls asleep in Jandro's bed.

Jandro has never slept with anyone. Oh he's screwed just about anyone that would allow him, but to fall asleep next to someone, to want that type of love with someone, well that is not for Jandro. Coming home and finding Donnie passed out, naked in his bed changes things. Jandro has watched Donnie grow from a shy, awkward teenager to the more assured young man that now lies ass up in his bed, stark white sheets pooled around him.

Johnnies is one of my favorite series, it is emotional and dark and angst ridden, so this short story is as contrasting to the world of Johnnies as Donnie and Jandro are to each other. This was a short, steamy story about a young man that knows exactly what he wants and when offered the opportunity to have it, grabs Jandro with both hands. It's passionate, fun and full of content for such a short story. I think Super Sock Man is a nice reprieve, a little sunshine for all us fans that are anxiously awaiting the release of Black John (book 4) on Audio.

Sean Crisden continues to tell the stories of Lane's boys over at Johnnies as narrator. I love the articulate tone of his voice, how he always enunciates every syllable while managing to inflect different tones for each character. If you are looking for something fast, fun and smexy then look no further. This can also be read as a stand alone as it is solely the story of Donnie and Jandro, not a continuation. But I highly recommend the series as a whole.

so good!

This is such a cute story! just a sweet fluffy little love story, like a little pallet cleanser to go along with all the heaviness of the Johnnies series

can't wait to get to the next one!

I love this series! Sean Crisden is the best narrator I've heard and makes everything he does that much better. The characters come to life and between the author and narrator you feel like your a part of it. Don't pass this amazing duo up.

Mmmmm Spanish Accent!

This is like a prequel to the Johnnie’s series. Donnie is Chase’s friend who sort of “introduces” Chase to the joys of gay sex even though Chase still won’t admit he’s gay. (Good Reads lists this as part of the Granby knitting series, but I think it’s only because knitting is involved.)

Donnie, meanwhile, is falling in love with his sister’s roommate Alejandro. Over the course of 3 years Donnie’s crush grows and grows and Alejandro isn’t immune.

Eventually Donnie and Alejandro come together and it’s amazing!

**

This is a short story, so we move quickly from crush to lover, but its very well developed and has a surprising amount of hot sex for the small number of pages.

I really like both Donnie and Alejandro and though I wish we’d been able to see them as a couple (for more than the sex), I still think they’ve got what it takes to last. I appreciated the back-story of Chase and how it added depth to his character for us, but I wished we could have spent that time learning more about Donnie and Alejandro.

Sean Crisden has narrated many of Amy’s books and he always does a great job. I really liked his Alejandro – mmmm Spanish accent…. Sexy! However, I thought his “Donnie” voice was a little weird. It wasn’t enough to detract from my enjoyment of the story, but it wasn’t my favorite of his narrations.

Overall, I’d give both the story and the narration a 4 of 5 stars.

A Small Bit of Happy

I came to this story from having read Chase in Shadow and Donnie was such a strong character that when I found out he had his own book I had to read it. I love that there is a marriage of her other series it expands the world and makes it more complete.

Yandro is such a beautifully rendered character and the counter balance to Donnie's pure effervescent personality. Yandro is a lonely figure until he meets Donnie who is his housemates baby brother and when he enters his life his world is filled with color and during the three years they orbit around each other there is an indefinable draw that Yandro denies until he can't.

The coming together is awesome. Such a wonderful addition to my library.

sweet, short, simple.

really nice story, though the narrator trying to get the Venezuelan accent made me kind of uncomfortable (sounds kinda racist). aside from that, the characters are cute and the story is easygoing and entertaining, good job!

Sweet, sexy M/M romance.

An extremely well-written page-turner that will put a smile on your face. With engaging characters, you can't help but love. To top things off it's wonderfully narrated. Sean Crisden does a drool-worthy job with Alejandro'a accent.

Cute Novella

A cute novella about Donnie and Alejandro and how their relationship started. It was adorable and gave some nice insight into Donnie and Chase’s relationship from another point of view.
