Publisher's Summary

Dark, gritty and always edge-of-your-seat: the number one best seller is back with a standout new heroine.

Unknown, alone and fearing for your life. As PC Lucy Clayburn is about to find out, going undercover is the most dangerous work there is. But on the trail of a prolific female serial killer, there's no other option - and these murders are as brutal as they come.

Lucy must step into the line of fire - a stranger in a criminal underworld that butchers anyone who crosses the line. And, unknown to Lucy, she's already treading it....

Always gripping. Always gruesome. Paul Finch will leave fans of Rachel Abbott and MJ Arlidge gasping for more.

what the f...!

Should have known better when the book was described as typical British police thriller, but there were no reviews warning against the crude language in this novel by Paul Finch, so desperate for a good psychological thriller, I took a chance. big mistake.
Starts of with a rookie heroine who has a female sidekick named Peabody (like Robb's Eve) and she rides a monster of a motorbike( Jane Yellowrock). so nothing original.
Definitely not for discerning readers who read a lot and who do not appreciate f words and omg used repeatedly by most characters.

Audible versions are often expensive and I would appreciate being warned of foul language. Could not finish the book.

A wild ride of a story.

This book was gripping enough to listen to in two sittings. A complex story that sometimes lack credibility, as a one woman end pc takes on the whole of the north west mafia doing incredible things, making her bosses look inadequate and getting away with gross insubordination ! A bit unrealistic in today's police force I suspect, but it makes entertaining listening and if you allow for dramatic licence I'm sure you'll enjoy this tale. The narrator was good but eventually the Manchester accents became rather tedious.

Just Brilliant!

Engrossing, intriguing and a damn fine tale. Expertly crafted narrative with only an odd predictable twist in the tale. But even then it wasn't obvious
Great story, well written an narrated.
New author to me and I shall certainly explore more of his books

Needs a health warning!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Brilliant suspense (sometimes almost too much!) Certainly something I could not put down. Would make a good film. Sometimes I felt the main character, Lucy, was doing just a tad too much on her own, and this just scraped by being believable, but hey, fiction is about suspending disbelief and this is 100 per cent a book I got caught up in. Lovely characters, nothing cardboard here. And a plot that has many surprise twists. There is a great underlying knowledge of police procedure which underpins the novel and gives much weight to the story. Paul Finch, you're new to me, but you're definitely one of the best.

Don't waste your credit

Worst book I have listened to and I've been a member since 2008.
Lucy thinks she is wonder woman and the narrator doesn't make it any better.

WOW - 5 stars across the board!

Where does Strangers rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Within the top five.

What did you like best about this story?

It is much more than just a detective yarn. There is a lot of interesting interaction between the main character and her mother .... and I never saw the fantastic twist near the end coming!

What about Chloe Massey’s performance did you like?

The narration was fantastic - truly fantastic. So nice to hear a regional accent. Chloe's narration was faultless.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, without giving too much away, the part where Lucy's mum does the only thing she thinks she can do under the circumstances. Very thought provoking and as a Mum myself, I could identify with both Mum and daughter on this.

Any additional comments?

A right rip roarer with no gratuitous violence or too much foul language. I've given it 5 stars across the board.

An excellent book

I loved the story and the ending.
what was irritating was the town name of Crawley instead of Chorley. The author named all the different places around Chorley...so why it was given the name Crawley was beyond!

Crawley is in the south of England so when the part comes up with regards to accents it does not make any sense.

Great story loved it

Really enjoyed the plot, narrator was appropriate but have my faves for this kind of book in Paul Thornley types.
