Publisher's Summary

The adventure continues....

Ordained by an ancient goddess of mercy and light, former knight Allystaire Coldbourne has become a paladin, a hero out of legend. But evil stalks him, angry gods align against him, and greedy warlords want him dead.

With the help of his friends, each blessed with extraordinary powers by the Goddess, Allystaire must escape the clutches of sorcerers and wicked rulers who will stop at nothing to destroy him as he continues his dangerous quest to bring peace and unity to the fractured and war-torn Baronies. With the Longest Night of mid-winter approaching, the Goddess weakens and armies march - armies determined to bring destruction and horror to the paladin and all who follow him. Allystaire is soon left with only his powers, his handful of friends, and his mission to be a beacon of hope, still and bright, in the encroaching darkness.

Stillbright stands for the Mother!

A tremendous follow up to the first book. Characters only develop further and you get a true sense of belonging coming together. Dangers mount and the Arm of the Mother must stand Stillbright through the "Longest Night". Absolute wonderful narration and cant wait to hear the final book! keep this content coming Auduble.

The negative reviews about the first story being about only religion are truly narrow minded and spewing their own projections. If you do not expect some religion in a fantasy tale about a Paladin then I dont know how to help you people... go back to your reddits. This book is a well written fantasy tale that will keep you wanting to see what happens next. need more books about paladins and dwarves!

easy listen. great pace.

As far as Dungeons and Dragons style fantasy goes, this is a great book and series. Not too complicated that you have to stop what you're doing to focus on it.

Good book

I liked how the second book jumped right into where the first ended. There was a great mix of comedy and seriousness throughout which was awesome. I also like that it didn't beat around the bush with explaining how certain things work.

Another masterpiece

This story beautifully expands the characters to make them even more vivid. The legend expands and the adventure escalates.

excellent sequel

I'm not a big fantasy fan, but this book is just fantastic.
I gushed endlessly over the first part of this trilogy, so I'll say a little less here, because everything I loved in Ordination is continued and improved upon here. The characters are great, the world feels alive, the perils feel genuine, despite the fact that I knew there would be another book after this.

Highly recommended for any reader, not just die-hard fantasy enthusiasts.

Beacon of Hope

The Temple, now established, has drawn more people to the little village of Thornhurst.

Now that Allystaire has found all of the Mother’s disciples, they must return to the village to reinforce its defences in preparation for the battle to come. This will be no ordinary battle and will test even the strongest. All is at stake as the Longest Night of Midwinter approaches.

This is a trilogy that doesn’t rush, but continues at a steady pace for the listener to savour.

If I could give 6 stars for the performance I would!

Great story and character progression. Thoroughly enjoyable but lifted to the superb by Michael Kramer, who can make your heart swell with his storytelling. Roll on book 3!!

Interesting and compelling

Always love this narrator, he really makes a story come to life and makes connecting to characters so much easier.
The story was compelling, I wanted to listen in one sitting. Some parts of the story I found a bit samey but as I have listened to lots of stories from this genre that can happen so not too much of a problem. The inventive way that the author continues the characters of Gods and Goddesses is intriguing and pulls you into how it feels to have unwavering faith yet still have human doubts.
Overall this is definitely worth listening too and I would highly recommend to any fans of the genre.
