She was on track to become the first woman ever accepted into a Royal Guard, specifically King Jotham's Royal Guard. Then, a life-altering injury shattered her dreams. Now, she must figure out how to move on with her life.

Nicholas Deffand was the youngest male ever named as the captain of King Jotham's Royal Guard. He served and protected his king to the exclusion of everything else. But now, he's found a woman who not only understood what his job entailed but his dedication to it as well.

Did Not Like the Cliffhanger!

I have come to expect a certain level of storyline from M. K. Eidem; this one fell short. Her cliffhanger as the ending was not welcome. Especially since this audible edition was released under a different publisher months before the Audible release date. I as an M.K. Eidem fan and 1st buy had to wait to purchase since I prefer Audible. I wonder why she felt it necessary to include a cliffhanger when her previous 3 Challenge books did not?

Very Pleasurable and a Cute read

For me "Stephanie's Challenge " was very enjoyable it reminded of MK Eidem's Oryon (Torians) short and sweet. It had it's own atmosphere of excitement with the couple, because let be honest we have been waiting to know what happened stephanie health, her career and how her relationship with Nicholas will play out but a hint for what to come next. The Cliffhanger I really didn't mind it was good (it really have me wanting more) MKE really know how to give a good Cliffhanger keeps you guessing for her next books will all the different elements. Just like how she did in Torians and Kaliszain series, MKE has you wondering/guessing what is going to take place with ULL's mission to earth and, the Kaliszain emperor and his empire stories. MK Eidem just keeps us wanting more....Well done miss MKE

Liked it but...Something missing

This Challenge series are one of my all time favorites and when I'm in the mood for a good Sci-Fi these are my go to.

Not this one. It was good to hear about Stephanie and I love Defan but it didn't sound like the first 3 books. This one didn't grab me by the throat like the others. Loved hearing the previous characters and their lives. It was also too short (novella?) . At 22, 14 , 14 hours, the first 3 were action packed with multiple plots that blended well into great stories. This, not so much. Something was missing.

Narration was awesome as usual. Wish other audiobooks were similarly produced.

I will buy the next one just to see what happens.

Book 4 is Outstanding!

I have enjoyed this book and the world created by this fantastic author! A well written story with awesome characters. Each book is this series is unique and are connect in different ways. I always wanted more books from this author.
The narrator’s always makes the story’s more intriguing. They also make it easy to distinguish between the characters and voices of each character which makes the story all better. I can’t wait for more books in the series and am hoping that there is more! Fabulous writer and narrator’s!

Very Enjoyable!!

Usual MKE fare, just shorter. Expected more conflict from Woodrow vs the Commander. Can't wait for the next challenge, MKE hurry.

Hooray for next installment in series

The story picks up about 3 months after Jacinda’s Challenge, when she was seriously injured protecting her mother, Jacinda, and King Jotham. I really admire Stephanie’s hard work and determination to reach the goal she’s worked for all her life. I also like the message from her dad advising her to consider the different path that life is offering her.
Yes, with a BIG smile; her lifemate is who you think it is if you read the previous book.
Oh, and the set up for Amina’s story in the next book! Is Barek interested in her like Jotham thinks??? Oh, boy! I’m going to be even more antsy to get the next installment in the series!!!
Eidem jumped up to my list of top authors almost 4 years ago when I found Grim through Audible. I check her website, Audible, and Amazon religiously when it gets near the time when a new ebook or audiobook might be coming out.
I just wish she wasn’t using the odd websites for delivery of her ebooks and audiobooks. I purchased them through links from her emails, but had to repurchase audio through Audible because it disappeared. At least the ebook loaded into kindle, and is still available.
I really love the multiple narrators who bring life to Eidem’s stories. Even the pieces of melody are pleasant and in the right places.
Recommend, but best if you’re following the series.

Stephanie is alive!!!!!

I have been waiting for this story forever. M.K. Eidem has a gift and a flair for writing however compared to other authors she is very slow when it comes to putting out a next book. This book is years overdue. The last book in this series was Jacinda's Challenge which was released in 2015. I know that every author and writer has a life however when it comes to series as a reader if you are not consistently relistening to certain books within that series you tend to forget about all the characters and not very interested in what is happening with other characters.

I just assumed that Stephanie was never going to get a book because of the fact that it took so long to be released. However, I am glad that I really listened to the other three books within the series to still be passionate about what is going to happen next.

If you follow the series there is an ongoing conflict that seems too involved a lot more people then anybody thought. In the previous book Stephanie has been mortally injured and we did not know if she survived or not.

We do know her lifemate Nicholas and her have been dancing around should they or should they not and this is their book. I 100% enjoyed Stephanie and Nicholas courtship. He is the type of man who understands that his woman is a boss and is okay with that. He is not afraid to be subservient to her and his male ego is not affected either. The fact that he is 100% comfortable with in their relationship is great.

I do enjoy Stephanie's family and I'm glad that we got to see more of them. I also enjoyed the fact that Nicholas' parents, who we glimpsed just a little bit, is just as meddlesome and just as involved within his life as Stephanie's is. I am secretly waiting for Nicholas and Stephanie's family to do a huge get together and have a holiday.

Is it mentioned before there are people doing shady things and there is a traitor amongst them. Everybody assumed that they caught all the traitors however the level of conspiracy that is happening within this series is mind-boggling. I really want to know what is a reason that the traitor feels the need to do what he or she is doing and I really am excited to see it be unraveled within Michelle's mind.

This story ended up with a major cliffhanger and I really hope that it isn't three more years before we figure out what the heck is going to happen next.

Love the Challenge Series, Stephanie's Challenge

Worth the wait. Now for Barek and Amina's story. The addition of Stephanie's and Nick's story provided more information of this world. Fantastic.

Love the sound effects.

Like all books in this series all the characters have different voices and accents. The sound effects are awesome and really bring the audio to life. I wish all audio books were like this! 👍🏻
