Isabelle’s life was garbage. Then she got yeeted into Beaubinte—a stat-ridden fantasy hellpit where caves whisper loot me, the logs scream errors, and poison arrows count as handshakes.
She was supposed to be a side character. Probably. Now her sneak stat won’t stop climbing, her fireballs keep committing war crimes, and the system is either sentient or just high on its own code.
The prophecy’s glitched. The Citadel’s on fire. The gods are watching like it’s reality TV.
Isabelle? Underdressed. Overleveled. Emotionally unavailable. Looting everything that isn’t nailed down. This world can die mad about it.
Like buggy skill trees, crackhead chosen ones, and divine oversight with a body count? Welcome to Beaubinte. Hope you brought potions.

the story was just ok. not good not bad just ok. the issue is you never know what a given person is thinking. there are parts where the system is constantly baggering the mc and she never has a real reaction. is she annoyed? amused? overwhelmed? it never says and it's so many times another character letting the mc know to respond to it. very few people in the book have any emotions at all. the only ones i can think of are the villains that do and it's just unchecked rage without explanation. each time they access their inventory it reads out EVERYTHING even if it's they open their inventory to eat a loaf of bread they list every single item and it probably takes a good chunk of the book just from that. there is one point that the mc sees a drunk thrown out of a bar for not paying their tab and just decides to pay their tab and get them more to drink for some reason? even another character was like "hey why are you helping them?" and she responds with "well they needed it" but that never happens again and it's really odd. it does not give you how she feels about helping or any other reasoning, just that. if you have ever listened to Emilia the hero (can't recall the exact name) the book reads a lot like that. she never really has reasons for doing said thing she just does it and you are expected to know why. There are also many iconic species in the books and somehow she doesnt know any of them. i dont know if she was raised in a cult or if she is just cluelessly stumbling around in the world. These are just things off the top of my head and there is a lot more I am not putting in here.
The author and narrator. He is ok at narration, not good or really bad just ok. where it falls apart is the obviously no check after he was done recording. countless times it cuts out near the end of the sentance and another character starts talking or something. it comes off as that person being cut off from their thought or speech but since there are no real emotions in the book it just leaves you confused as to if it is from not checking once the recordings were put into a book or intentional. near mid book there are multiple times he reads over the same thing he just did. I dont know if these are re-takes and he forgot to edit the old out or if he just started a recording and forgot he was further along. He does a very poor job with the characters wisper/shout/anger ect. it's only after he reads what they say and it says the character said it in a short or loud then the next bit will be shouted, the real amusing bits are when they talk loud when they are sneaking only for the author to read it loud on the next line when that line says they whispered it.
at the end of the day there was just no quality control practiced here. I read the description and thought "man that looks funny. silly and fun" and came away disappointed and irritated I even made the purchase.
this was just kinda bad
