O.K so it's like this ,this was the first of it's kind and it shows even the writer apologizes for the ending and rightly so although the views of the time where not her fault,however this is quite shocking ,some heavy issues are being tackled here ,I don't know if I would recommend this, apart from the fact the narrator sounds like she's reading the six o'clock news ,it's antagonizing in it's views .If your a Beebo Brinker fan I say give it a miss stick to Ann she learnt well from this.

The author did warn us...

Vin Packers forward for this book was the best part of it. This does read like a book meant to scandalize and satiate a populous audience as they read it illicitly behind a newspaper. I understand that this novel is historic for us lgbqt folks, and maybe reading it with that kind of mentality would make it a more pallet-able read. I suppose we do have the horrid ness of this story to thank for all the good queer literature it inspired to produce.
