Spitting Devil

Although this may have been a short story it was still worth the listen. There are other reviewers complaining about the short story but I enjoyed it 100%. A lot happened in a little over an hour and it was easy to follow. Between the short romance of Joe and Maggie, a wife thinking her husband was a serial killer and a smart but scared 10 year old boy this short story came together perfectly!

Interesting short story

I'm a fan of author Brian Freeman and his Jonathan Stride modern detective series, but this short story is quite simply weird. It's as much a horror story as modern detective. Frankly, its not worth the cost and time.

What was that?

This book has so many extra descriptive words and excess dialog that I'd swear it was written by a ghost writer or while Brian Freeman was impaired. This had to have been an early short story idea for a novel. Thank goodness Freeman's writing improved or I wouldn't be 5.5 books into the series. This book is shockingly bad for this author.

Too short

Another hit by Brian Freeman. Be aware that this is a short story. I was prepared for another long suspense, but it resolved to quickly.

Not sure why so short

Another great story - just too short! Stride doesn’t play as bug of a role but still great that some of the characters are there.

Like an episode of ‘Criminal Minds’

Suspenseful, requires suspension of disbelief, very graphic and dramatic.

4+ hours would’ve been too much, but it works really well at this length.

well told

loved this short story. It is connected to the others, but only by the relationship between Maggie and Jon. I thought it and 5.6 would have story elements in common with books five and six because of the numbering. The story was frightening and told with just enough detail to make it a good horror story.
