Publisher's summary

Drama teacher Abby Devlin has always dreamed of being a world-famous actress. While stardom has, so far, proven elusive, she has made quite a name for herself at McMillan Playhouse, where she’s just been cast in a self-written production. Her triumph quickly turns to dread, however, when she learns that McMillan has cast a soap star as her new leading man.

After a painful divorce, Dean Altman, former soap star and a single dad, readjusted his priorities, moving back home to Galveston, Texas with his young daughter, Preslie. It doesn’t take long for him to feel the itch to dust himself off and step back into the acting world, which brings him to McMillan’s stage...and Abby’s attention.

There is a fire between Abby and Dean when they meet in rehearsal, and not the good kind. Sizzling tension leads to drama both on and off-stage, but when they are forced to work together for the sake of the play, they slowly begin to give in to the undeniable chemistry between them. Before they truly have a chance to understand what they might have, however, an opportunity presents itself to Dean- one that could make or break what they have come to find in one another.

Soulmate, Stage Right is an enemies-to-lovers, single dad romance, with quick progression and high-stakes emotion. It will appeal to contemporary romance fans, as well as fans of Hallmark movies. It is low on the heat, but high on the sweet, and was written in the style of a Harlequin novel.

Enjoyable and fun romance!

Bixby Jones tells a entertaining story in Soulmate, Stage Right. I have/haven't read anything from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. I did read the story, and enjoyed it, but I also really enjoyed this audiobook. The characters were fun and lively, and very realistic. This author brings the stories to life. The narration definitely brings the characters to life. It is a unique take on a contemporary romance, and filled with just the right amount of heat and a lot of the adorable couple things, but it also adds some twists that make you think. It has comedy and connection between Dean and Abby, and the romance is definitely not forced. It's a very heart-warming story that gives encourages the cuddle up on the couch, and open the book to read. This author brings the story to life. The characters had a lot of depth, and were very realistic. It is a very well-written plot, and I enjoyed it. It’s one of those embraceable stories. If you love a good sweet and fulfilling romance, this book should be next on your list. I hope to read more books by this author. Soulmate, Stage Right on audiobook is a definite listening recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to listening to many more titles by this author. Awesome audio book!!!

"Soulmate, Stage Right" is a well written and nicely laid out book. You really get to know each of the characters, and it has a nicely laid out plot with just enough angst and build up to make it really enjoyable! The narrator does an excellent job as well -- she speaks very clearly and doesn't sound like a boring robot like some audiobooks -- her voice acting is excellent and realistic and I can easily tell one character from another. She makes you forget about the words so you become transported into the story! I give it 5 stars! If you like romance, buy this audiobook!

Love these characters!

Overall, I absolutely loved the premise of this story. The characters swooped in and grabbed me from the beginning, even though I got really aggravated at Abby’s continuing downward spiral of thoughts every time the situation presented itself! I was Team Dean all the way, but finally felt sorry for Abby after finally finding out how badly her experiences had tainted her reasoning.
The narrator, Chrissy Bienvenu, did a fantastic job with each character, and I think that’s what helped me to fall for them so quickly! Each character had a distinct voice and I could really feel all their emotions. Her presentations of Intoxicated Dean were so endearing and beautifully done! She has a knack for bringing the characters to life, making them believable and real. Her voice is clear, smooth, and very easy to listen to, which doesn’t distract from the actual storyline and only enhances it!
This story is well written with an interesting story arc. My only complaint is that it needs an epilogue! I didn’t want the story to end! I wanted to see some follow up action with the mothers and more details on how their life progresses going forward. It was a happy ending for sure, but I wanted it all wrapped up with a bow on top! LOL Loved this story and highly recommend it!❤️

A cozy romance 💕

This was a re-read for me and really enjoyed this audio adaptation. Having read it in my own voice hearing it read to me in a different voice gave the story a whole different level of enjoyment. Highly recommend this cute, cozy read. Perfect for beginners entering the romance genre.

Sweet Romance

This book reminded me of the sweet Harlequin romances I used to read as a teenager. Just enough "heat" to make you blush, but nothing too crazy and a heartwarming Happy Ever After. The "he loves me, he loves me not" suspense at the end is great! It made you want to fast forward to find out the answer. I enjoyed it.
