Professor Kate Walker is a tenured, world-renowned engineer. She has a job she loves, a daughter she adores, and friends who've been with her through thick and thin. It's a fulfilling life that doesn't really need anything—or anyone—else. Especially not a charming, downright amazing woman who happens to be twenty years her junior.

Carter Burke has lived a storied life and has the Olympic medals to prove it. She's got her dream job coaching a collegiate women's lightweight rowing team in her beloved Boston, and is happily married to the sport she's dedicated her life to. She's happy with her life and not really looking for more, but all that changes when a blonde professor with hypnotizing sea glass green eyes waltzes into her boathouse.

The Charles River has played host to countless scenes of overwhelming joy and crushing heartbreak over the years—but never quite on a scale like this. Because when hearts are involved, the stakes are infinitely higher. Carter is hooked from the moment she first lays eyes on Kate, and their chemistry is undeniable, but is that chemistry enough to help Kate push past her reservations and into Carter's arms?

Wow! This has become my new favorite love story! Of course the narrator was amazing as always! New fan of the author as well! Such a great love story. I’m starting to like all age-gap novels!!!

This story showed that trust between two people regardless of the age gap can lead to a powerful relationship. Abby Craden brings all feels to the characters.

Such a beautifully written story. And Abbey never disappoints withdrawing you into the characters with her voice. Who knew this is the combination that I have been waiting for! Such a an amazing story and performance.

I've been waiting for years for MJ's books to come to Audible and was hoping Abby would be the one to read them. She didn't disappoint as usual and brought all the characters to life. Something in the Water is probably my favorite MJ Duncan. The story is so sweet and Abby makes it easy to immerse yourself. I was a little bummed when I saw Halcyon was being read by Lori Prince since I'm not really a fan. If you are are a fan though it was definitely worth the read!!! Savanah Rivers did an amazing job with Plus One also!

A re-read for me, but a new listen. I was SUPER happy when I learned this was coming to Audible...and even more so, that Abby Craden was narrating. Love, love, love it! 🥰

This is only my 4th MJ Duncan book, and I am in love with her writing! This is an age-gap, but it doesn't read like one. It's simply a beautiful love story.

Everything about Carter and Kate is swoon worthy! Their chemistry is hot from the get -go, that even as a slow burn, their stolen kisses were steamy 🥵. And when they finally get together?!?... 💥🔥🌶
Low angst, but still very engaging from pg1. A definite must-read!

Funny they had to add some drama…the main characters fell in line and in deep like/lust so quickly…all was great. I felt challenged and not fully understanding what the parents issue was regarding age difference for their adult child??? It was more the long reaction that stymied me…
BUT I loved their love… friends… family. The epilogue was awesome…
Abby C was fabulous as narrator!!

Such a sweet story

The writing was good but the book felt a little flat overall to me with no tension or conflict. The sex was pretty steamy though.

Good but no real tension or conflict

I'm not sure how to feel about this book. It seemed unbelievably cheesy. Their whole relationship seemed to revolve around sex. The whole book was them making out in front of friends and family and making everyone feel uncomfortable. If I did a shot every time someone whimpered or their eyes rolled in the back of their head I'd be dead at the half way point.

cute story but kind of boring.
