Publisher's Summary

Dark deeds in the Lighthouse Library threaten to send Lucy Richardson's soon-to-be-wed cousin Josie to an early "till death do us part".

Winter falls on North Carolina's Outer Banks as Lucy Richardson and her friends joyfully help her favorite cousin, Josie O'Malley, plan her wedding. The owner and head baker of Josie's Cozy Bakery and her fiance, Chef Jake Greenblatt, want a small, simple wedding.

But to their horror, Josie's imperious grandmother, Gloria, descends with the "Louisiana Mafia", a gaggle of aunts and cousins who intend to take control of the wedding plans. Gloria doesn't do small and simple, and cousin Mirabelle has her own ideas for Josie's wedding, something grand and lavish - and paid for by Josie's parents, of course - that will kick-start her fledgling event-planning business and get her work shown on the covers of wedding magazines. To make matters worse, Mirabelle focuses her full Southern charm on the prospective groom, and Jake doesn't seem entirely adverse to her attentions.

To smooth the waters, Lucy hosts a bridal shower at the Bodie Island Lighthouse Library. But it turns deadly when Mirabelle collapses - soon after eating the gluten-free treats Josie prepared specifically for her. Now, to save her favorite cousin from prison, Lucy will have to bring a crook to book.

Makes the Outer Banks come alive.

Love this series. Writer makes it real and the reader gives it life. Makes the Outer Banks a wanna-be-place and the characters become your friends and family. Can’t wait for next segment.

Another Book Back In My Life!

I’m glad to have another book back in my life since my Mother passed away last year with her Audible account. I enjoyed the bravery that cousins do to save their wedding day and find the guilty wedding party! I feel like listening to this again!

Overbearing Grandma, Jealous Ex and a Dead Planner

When librarian, Lucy Richardson's cousin, Josie O'Malley announces her plans to wed Chef Jake Greenblatt, Lucy is excited and ready to help her plan her very small wedding . . . that is until Josie's Louisiana Grandmother, Gloria shows up and threatens to take over the entire affair, insisting on a huge event, with wedding planners in tow. And no one has the gumption to stand up to Gloria, instead trying to molly coddle her into seeing their way of thinking . . . unsuccessfully. When Lucy hosts a bridal shower at the Bodie Island Lighthouse Library, one of the wedding planners, Mirabelle collapses and dies after eating some of Josie's gluten free desserts. And Josie becomes the main suspect in the murder of her cousin 😯 Josie, a bundle of nerves, due to an upcoming wedding, now having to close her shop, Josie's Cozy Bakery while the police investigate, is also faced with the fact that her fiance, Jake has a stalker, a former girlfriend come to town to try and get Jake back. 😲 Of course, Lucy is going to assist all she can in finding the real killer, to the dismay of the police department. A fun, easy listen, and good addition to the series.

Almost gave up on it

I almost gave up on this book in the beginning. The narrator is sometimes a bit whiny or annoyed sounding and a whole slew of characters and names are thrown at you all at once and your left trying to figure out who is who. I’m talking girlfriends, boyfriends, wives, husbands, cousins, aunts, uncles, second cousins, cousins twice and three times removed, coworkers, etc., etc. Too many characters are introduced at one time without a clear understanding or development of each and it’s really confusing. By the end of the book, there were still a couple people I was unsure about. After I got over this annoyance, I started getting into the story and ended up liking it.

LONG AWAITED

I DO LOVE THE CHARACTERS IN THIS SERIES, AND LUCY MANAGES TO SOLVE NOT ONE BUT TWO CRIMES. NOW, CAN SHE SAVE JOSEY'S WEDDING, HER OWN RELATIONSHIP, AND HER BELOVED LIBRARY? THIS ONE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

The story is good but the characters are awful. They are either sickeningly sweet or self serving and self absorbed. Eva Gates is also very wordy. I found myself skipping ahead sometimes to move the story along.
