Publisher's summary

Embark on a final trip through the Something Like... universe with this special collection of stories that promises heartwarming reunions and gut-wrenching closure.

"Something Like Stars" playfully explores what would happen if someone made a movie about Ben, Tim, and Jace. Harold attempts to befriend Noah and Felix in "Something like Us", unrequited feelings challenging their relationship. Marcello prepares for the inevitable while revealing secrets from his past in "Something like Goodbye". And in "Something like Heaven", Ben must decide once and for all who his heart - and his future - belongs to.

Eighteen stories await you, some short and sweet, others lengthy and dramatic, all of them emotional. Say farewell to old friends in this ultimate epilogue to the Something Like... series!

Each Something Like... book follows a different gay character on their quest for love. Central to the plot is the troubled relationship between Ben and Tim, high school sweethearts who continue to meet at different stages of their lives, their chemistry changing with each encounter. Surrounding them are a wealth of friends and enemies, each with their own story, resulting in an immersive universe filled with optimism and hope, heartbreak and healing. While the series doesn't shy away from sexual content, it also focuses deeply on emotion, promising an experience that will stay with you long after the final minute.

Background information from the author:

I intended truly did intend for Something like Forever to be the final book in the series. This third volume of short stories began by accident. The artist of the graphic-novel version was drawing bonus illustrations for our supporters on Patreon, when I decided it would be fine to accompany each drawing with a very short piece of writing. That’s why the early stories in this collection are particularly short. Soon I found myself wanting.

Visiting Old Friends

This was so awesome! I've become a huge fan of Jay Bell and the something like series is what got me hooked. This did not disappoint. Getting a chance to hear other characters endings was so satisfying and really left me wanting more. Something Like goodbye had me in tears, and kind of left me wanting a something like story about Marcello alone lol
Any fan of the series will enjoy and highly recommend to all Jay Bell fans and if you are new to the series it all starts in Something like summer.

Hits and Misses

So overall I liked the book. I just felt like some of the stories were hits and others misses. I get that this is a collection of short stories but some felt so short that they didn’t feel necessary or the moral was rushed. There are good stories like Emma’s that flush out her character which has been the purpose of the stories series, which is what I love, so I would say give it a listen for those good ones.

No positive words for this

Ok, so I adored all the characters of this series. Ben being the favorite of course. I tried to find purpose in this last book but found none. I was however, disappointed in many of the stories. Very disappointed. The polyamorous theme threw me way off. Wait. What? That's what kept going through my mind. The last story, Something like heaven, was the killer. Ben would never. Even in that crazy storyline. That was way over the top. What was Jay thinking? The Something like series was my #1 favorite of all. I will have to forget about this last book and not let it shadow my view of the characters.

Quite fun

It was fun to run into old characters again. Some of the stories were very short, previously patreon exclusives. There was a very long story about Harold and Noah which I didn't even really care to read in print, as the characters are mediocre. The stories that really shone out were Marcello's tales which were brilliantly fun.

Kevin R Free once again knocks the narration out of the park
