Story
There are two sides to every story. When you're Tim Wyman, sometimes there are three. Tim hoped moving to Texas would mean a new beginning, but he soon finds himself falling into the same tired patterns. Until he meets recklessly brave Benjamin Bentley, who introduces Tim to a world of love, sex, and warmth. Certain that society won't understand what he and Ben have together, Tim struggles to protect their relationship, even if it means twisting the truth. Buried beneath his own deceptions, Tim must claw his way to the surface in the hopes of learning to fly.

Jason Grant doesn't have much, aside from a beat-up old guitar and knack for getting kicked out of foster homes. His latest placement is set to be just another in a long line of failures. Story
Kelly Phillips has been out and proud since he was a young teenager, and thanks to the gay youth group he frequents, he's never been short on friends or lovers. But when you have almost everything, it's hard not to focus on what's just out of reach: a best friend who would be Mr. Right if he wasn't already Mr. Straight. Or that handsome athlete at school who would be easier to wrangle if not for his angel wings. And then there's the guy who might be a perfect fit, maybe even a soul mate...if only he wasn't convinced he didn't need anyone.

My name is Nathaniel Courtney, and I m a survivor. I didn't let the cruelty of others wear me down, and I've weathered the more subtle hardships of the heart. Love is a Trojan horse, slipping past your guard and leaving you ransacked and vulnerable. I emerged from that war not unscathed but as a new man. The only mistake I ever made was letting the right guy get away. Now I've got one more chance. This is the final battle, because if I fail now...I won't. You'll see.

I love him. And I’m pretty sure he loves me back...even though he’s straight. When I first met Carter King, I knew he was something special. I imagined us being together, and we are, but only as friends. Best friends! I’m trying to be cool with that, even though I know he has secrets, and there have definitely been mixed signals. I don’t want a crush to ruin what we already have. Then again, if there’s any chance that we can be together, it’s worth the risk, because Carter could be the love of my life. Or he might be the boy who breaks my heart.

A Complete & Amazing Love Story
OK I'm convinced this book series should be the Harry Potter series at least for us gays. This last book left me crying so hard! Getting to know each character in such depth is an amazing experience. I'm starting Something Like Spring right now and will probably start the whole series over again right after finishing it!!!

Speechless
I didn't think it was possible to like a book more than the previous book , Something Like Winter (Book 2 in this series), but alas here I am. I fell in love with Jace's character even more so than Ben and Tim ( and I never thought that would be possible ). Being in my mid 30s the author has been so accurate with the feel of the times that it brought back so many memories it's uncanny.
Once again Jay Bell had me laughing , crying, and loving the story and characters. Hands down my most favorite series ever.

I reluctantly began this story.
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but Jace was easily my favorite character. That made me a bit uneasy about starting this story, as I knew how it would end and I wasn't sure I wanted to watch the emotional turmoil unfold. In the end, I was glad I gave in.
I didn't expect the format of this book. Nearly the first two thirds of the book really belong to Jace and Victor. Their love story is unusual, frustrating, and tragic. As a teenager, I knew a guy quite a bit like victor, and I could sympathize with the allure someone like that might hold for Jace even though, for Jace's sake I wish he hadn't fallen in love with Victor. Victor would never have been able to fill the role Jace needed from a partner.
As the book progressed, I became increasingly anxious. There just wasn't enough time left. I was watching the remaining hours of the book dwindling away and Jace was running out of time to enjoy his mostly happy ending. Ben and Jace's story was running out of time and it wasn't enough. That's part of the point, I guess. Jace didn't get to live the long life he deserved, but he got more than he expected.

A true Masterpiece
This is the third installment of Jay Bell's 'Something like' series that I've read and unbelievably, it was even better than the previous ones! While the second book meant the most to me as I could relate the most, this one is to me the cap stone that holds together the whole story of Ben, Tim and Jace. As there are four seasons, not just three, I'm now curious about Spring. I have high expectations, as this Author is getting from great to even better from book to book!

Exceptional...
As with the second book in the "Seasons" series, I have had this book in my library for a while but was a bit apprehensive to listen to the tale of Jace Holden. The first book was surprisingly wonderful, the second in the series was excellent, and now the third can only be labeled exceptional. Of the principal characters in this series, I fell in love with Jace and wanted him to be my future husband, which is another reason for my hesitation in delving into book three. I know what happens! I didn't like it in book one and then to relive the experience from Jace's perspective was going to be too much. I wasn't wrong...the ending ended just as I knew that it would and I became physically and emotional distraught. Why is that I wonder...you know what's coming but yet and still...it's like a serrated knife being driven into your chest. Why is because of the exceptional writing talents of Jay Bell! My love and admiration for Jace only intensified reading his story. Now I know the experience of all three principle characters; Ben, Tim, & Jace and I am a better person for having this wonderful story integrate into my life. My hope is to be able to welcome the end with a sense and feeling of "being loved"! On to book 4 and I do not think I am going to wait 6 months though...

This Third Will Clobber Your Senses
This story is all about tragedy, what could have been but was not. Bring a box of Kleenex. Even knowing from the prior two seasons what happens to Jace, you cannot be prepared. I am not certain where Jay Bell got the courage to write this one, but he did and it was amazingly good. Oh, and Kevin Free? Fantastic narration.

Damn you Jay Bell!!
Damn you!! All the feels right now, just moments after finishing it!! Love this series and I unintentionally skipped book two (which I will go back and listen to now) The seasons thing confused me apparently but I truly glad I read it in this order because I will always be team Jace!!
I love Jay Bell's writing style and how he approaches relationships. They feel real and loving and frustrating and complicated...just like real life.
I have to end my review before I give too much away and now all I wanna do is leave work early and run home to hug my husband!! lol
Thank you for creating these very realistic and authentic characters. I know these people, I have met them before in varying shades growing up in the 90s - 2000s and living as a married gay man now. Ugh...now for more of the series and probably several more smiles and tears.

Honestly I hate you.
( SPOILERS ) I don't normally write reviews, but in this case I have to. You destroyed me for 2/3 hours of today. A simple word. Shotgun. The fact you brought it back, the fact you foreshadowed all the way in the beginning. The fact it was Bernards. Honestly why couldn't you have written a book where Victor and Jason lived happily ever after. Fuck Ben and his naive emotions, especially fuck Tim a closet case expecting everyone else to look after his mental well being, even more than Victor. A brilliant book but evil... I'm glad I lived through it but for weeks maybe months, every time I see my boyfriend I'm just going to think of Victor.

Something like jase
By the time I was starting the 3rd book I though I knew the whole story but was I wrong. Even though we know how Jase’s story ends from the events of something like summer, it feels like you actually go though it when reading Jases take on the events...Keep a box of tissues on hand as you get to the end it’s rather emotional.

excellent
the third in the series so we know most of the story. In this one we know whhat the end is but we learn a lot about Jase, his past and his reasons for being how he is.. and of course where Samson fits in. as for Benjamin we know what happens to Jase in bens story. then 'what happens after' in Tims story. but we see how very brave he is to do as Jase asks on the end.. this is a very emotional story, Victor being a very sad part when you think of it all and well explained during a visit to military school..
I have already purchased the next book 'spring' but am waiting a little bit before starting to let my thoughts and emotions settle down a bit

He tells the story well. However, some of the voices he uses for the characters do not seem to fit. For example, he reads Tim like a simpleton dimwit and you know when a character is a nasty piece of work because their voices are uber camp and waspish.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Clear your diary, you wont want to miss a moment of this story.
Any additional comments?
This story is much more than just another look at the events from "Something Like Summer". In fact they are just covered in the final third part of this book.
In this story we meet a young Jace about to make a life changing decision and then watch him grow up to be the man that we (and Ben) fall in love with.
However, for me the best thing about this story is that we see the real Jace and not the perfect person who everyone who meets him seems to think he is. He is flawed and he has doubts and he is human.
Team Tim or Team Jace? I couldn't choose.
All I know is that you need a box of tissues handy as by the end your eyes will not be dry
