A great sense of adventure
This is the last and best book of the series. Book starts with Drizzt living in cave trying to make sense of an alien environment. At this point, reader knows enough about the character to really understand how one might feel and experience when face with such circumstances. Author did a great job of actually going through a lot of detail about how surface / light / environment impacted Drizzt. A small thing such as weather change, which we might take for granted, was not well understood by Drizzt.
Since a reader could feel for the character, book provides a great sense of adventure as if reader itself is walking out to the world for the first time. For seasoned readers, it is a sense that does not easily achieved and I really appreciated it.
Once somewhat comfortable with his new environment, Drizzt tries to establish relationships which really back fires. These attempts and his appearance / race lends him in trouble. There underline theme of pre-conceptions people have and how they are quick to judge based on appearance.
His attempts to establish relationships eventually bare fruits, and his adventure continues in a different direction.
All in all, this is a good book with a great sense of adventure. Narration seems correct for this type of book, and story zips along at a brisk pace. It is a good 3.5 to 4 star book. I liked the book enough that I will be picking up the next book from the author about the character.

Outstanding story
Sojourn brings the "Dark Elf Trilogy" to a close. If you enjoy Fantasy, you will enjoy this book and the trilogy. It is a fantastic conclusion to a wonderful series. The book is set on the surface so it is different feel from the first two books but I found I enjoyed it even more. I am looking forward to reading more about the character. I only hope that other books involving this character are as well written and told.

Great Series for the whole family!
Many years ago, I read this series and the Crystal Shard trilogy when they were first published and have followed the life and experiences of Drizzt the Drow Elf for many years. When it was released by Audible on audiobook, I was excited to jump back in and re-live those stories...I am so glad I did. Hearing these novels read by Victor Bevine is fantastic! His voice is perfect and he brings each character to life in their own unique way! Have downloaded this trilogy and the Crystal Shard trilogy to listen to again and again. I'm also sharing these audiobooks with my 10 and 11 year old children and teaching them the principles of the books...you can rise above your environment. You can become whatever you want, and living a principled life may not be easy, but it is worth it! Thanks Audible for bringing me back to these great books!

Mild
Victor Bevine is an amazing narrator. Unfortunately, I think this is the weakest of Salvatore's work ( I started with the ice wind dale trilogy which I loved). Too much time spent in Drizzts internal conflicts. This book felt small, as if the whole thing occurred within a 10 mile radius and in a boring neighborhood complete with real animals like owls, bears, skunks, and rabbits.

a must for any fantasy fan
Would you listen to Sojourn again? Why?
Absolutely I love the stories.. all three of them they have been a favorite of mine for close to 20 years now.
Which character – as performed by Victor Bevine – was your favorite?
I do not have a favorite character that Victor preformed, I'm just thrilled at the job Victor did at narrating these books. While their is nothing difficult about reading the books the way R.A Salvatore wrights i was afraid that the fighting sequences would come of as lame.I am thrilled to say that they did not not at all.
Any additional comments?
If you have never tried this series I urge anyone to start with book one and stick with them. the first book starts off a little slow but only because their is such a big world that needs to be created in your mind. midway through the book you will be cursing the times that you have to stop listening to do anything else.

Epic.
I was apprehensive when I first started listening to this series but I am so very glad that I did. The last few minutes of this book really hit me where it counts.
If you have even a passing interest in fantasy then I highly recommend you get cracking on this series. It's worth mentioning that this story is only set in the dungeons and dragons universe, you really do not need any knowledge or love for the franchise to enjoy these (I had no knowledge).
I recommend you start from the beginning, it gives the whole tale a truly epic feel.

Great closure to the trilogy
Narration 8/10
The narration is pretty solid. The voices do fit the characters, the speed is just right and overall it is well done. However I'd like a bit more "soul" to it, something extra to make it a bit more exciting and reaching to the listener, but overall it's really solid and well done.
Story 7.5/10
Continuing the story for the previous two books in the trilogy Drizzt has left the underdark and is now trying to live on the surface.
This book is the best in the trilogy, We see Drizzt struggling to become part of groups on the surface, trying to prove what he really is while everyone is being racist towards him, considering him evil because he is a Dark Elf. Overall I found the interactions with the other races really great, along with the evolution of the character, his realizations, him seeking for a purpose and finding a god to follow.
Overall I'd recommend this to any fantasy fan, even though I'd say it is more suited for younger ages rather than adults. If you just want something to pleasantly spend your time not expecting anything special out of it, go for it.

Terrible pronunciations all way through
The story is decent enough, not Tolkien standard but good enough to pass the time of day with. Maybe aimed at a younger audience than myself.
My main gripe is the awful pronunciation of words in all 3 books. I’m not talking about the difference between UK & USA English I’m talking about words such as ‘lived’ yes lived, pronounced Lie-ved and other words too such as ‘stalagmites & stalactites’ (appear more often than you’d think) which I’ve never on my many trips around the sun heard pronounced so differently.
It does detract from the story as quite often I’m left figuring out what the author meant. I’ll be thinking twice about buying any more narrated by this particular person - a good narrator makes or breaks an audio book 😢 only reason I kept going was to finish the trilogy.
Beyond the pronunciation the narrator does create voices for characters and adds feeling & emphasis to the story along with a sense of wonderment. So if you can put up with strange words appearing every so often then go for it.

Great for a younger audience
Not a bad book by any stretch but not amazing either. Drizzt is a very a very likeable protagonist but these books are really designed for a younger audience, early teens I would say.

A truth
I enjoy the stories of "good versus evil" as in Gemmell, but beyond these tales are those few who hold to principles based in reality born of experience and learning to understand others. Meet Drizzt, an example for children and a measure few adults dare to strive for.

Straight Outta Underdark
Drizzt's travels into the surface realm leads him on a far more philosophical trial than previous books. A drow without a home in a land that fears and mistrusts him, this is a great fish out of water tale. He must learn there is a difference between a so called "good race" and a "good person". For if he, a drow, can have the potential to be good, then the opposite potential can be true for humans. RA Salvatore has cleverly used the philosophy of Martin Luther King in the form of allegory in this tale of prejudice, redemption, and ultimately humility. A great end to this trilogy. The voice of Victor Bevine once again brings soul to the characters, both light and grim.

This is the definition of epic
not much compared to the first two books but still a good story worth both reading and listening to.
