Sometimes the best detectives…
Have fur.
Evelyn Foster has just moved to Granite, Michigan, and at first, the town is just as she expected it to be. Small. Insular. Quiet. On the upside, she gets to spend every day working with her best friend, one of the customers at the local coffee shop was definitely flirting with her, and her two German Shepherds seem to enjoy their new rental house and its fenced back yard.
Boring isn’t bad, and life could be worse.
When her younger dog, Atlas, alerts on a patch of dirt while they’re out for a walk, Evelyn’s heart rate accelerates, but she tries to keep things in perspective. The pup’s job is to locate human remains, but he’s still in training, and Eve is certain he must have made a mistake, but she contacts the police just to be on the safe side.
When a man, whom everyone thought had run out on his wife, is unearthed, the sleepy town suddenly wakes up and Eve finds herself reluctantly swept into a murder investigation.
Will she be able to unravel the mystery and become the talk of the town? Find out in this dynamic new Canine Cozy Mystery!

This book is paced well, the story never drags and it's engaging. Julie does an amazing job managing the solo narration. Her male voices are so good! Definitely worth listening!
What a fun and fast cozy mystery!

Evelyn Foster is new to a small, sleepy Michigan town, and just beginning to settle into her new job and routine. When she and her search and rescue dogs come across a body, things quickly escalate, and she suddenly becomes suspicious of everyone around her.
This first trip to Granite, MI introduces us to Evelyn, a potential love interest, and many of the quirky locals. It accurately paints a picture of your typical midwestern small town (speaking from experience) and the fact that everybody likes to know one another's business. Due to the length of the book the story moves along at a fast clip, but still packs in a lot of information about our characters and left me wanting more.
As always, Julie McKay (who also does voice acting as Maxine Mitchell) gives a stellar performance. She lends her voice well to both male and female characters, and is one of the best in the business at giving each character a distinct voice. Solo narrating a book is challenging no matter the length, and Julie tackles the feat with a finesse that makes it sound easy.
Great start to a cozy mystery series!

So I just finished up these 3 books today and they were a surprisingly good little treat. If you're looking for a short and quick listen of a small town cozy little murder mystery story then look no further than this series right here. Throw in a couple service dogs and this was such a sweet and wholesome story. Narrated by none other than the queen herself, Maxine Mitchell, who if she's reading it I will listen, this series is just what you need to cuddle up to and get your detective on. I loved the first 3 books of this series and will definitely be reading more to see what happens next.

Set in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the town feels close-knit in that "everybody knows everybody" way–except Eve, who's still trying to figure out her place.
During a training session, her dog uncovers something she herself did not plant...a d3ad body. And from there, the mystery slowly unravels, with Eve playing a role she never expected to play.
Sniffed Out is full of twists and turns that had me gasping and yelling, "Don't go in there! Don't say that!", while all the pieces puzzle together.
Voice actor Julie McKay's solo narration performance is phenomenal. She brings this large cast of characters to life with such distict voices. Her range made this story of mystery that much more immersive.
As the first book in the Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries series, it is the perfect setup for the rest of the series...cozy and charming, and mysterious.
