Publisher's Summary

Once upon a time, a princess was betrayed, and her kingdom was stolen from her. She hid her most precious object in the human world, a princess of the blood, in the hopes that the Sleeping Court would get a chance to take their rightful place as high court in the realm Faerie.

Now, a new generation has come of age, and the crown must be passed. The reigning queen’s daughter will claim the throne uncontested unless those who remember and waited to awaken the wayward princess can ally with her.

But as with all tales of Faerie, it is not without peril, danger, and intrigues. For our sleeping princess must awaken and must choose her guard wisely, one that will help her save all her allies and avenge her family.

Or history will repeat itself.

A reverse-harem romance.

A Sleeping Princess & Her Guards

This was an intriguing start to The Sleeping Court series! Verity is an artist who never knew her birth parents, has very little to her name, and isn’t sure how she’ll pay for her studio bill. She gets a mysterious call about her inheritance and when she goes to meet the Carrigan, she’s thrown into a whole new world. As it turns out, Verity is a fae princess and has to decide if she chooses to fight for her right to the throne of The Sleeping Court or history might repeat itself. Verity doesn’t automatically accept the truth at first, but she isn’t in complete denial either. Once she does accept who she is, she has a long journey ahead of her and a lot to learn about the world of fae. I thought it original that her house was attached to her and it changed based on her emotions or needs. The relationship she had with each of her guards was unique and they all had different personalities and skills. Carrigan was more so of a teacher for her and the romance was limited, Everett was reserved, Nassar was a typical arrogant and smart ass man, and Arien is her captain, gives herself completely to Verity, and will be anything she needs her to be. I loved that this book had FF which is still rare to see in reverse harems and I hope to see more of it as the series progresses.
Joshua did a great job with this narration! I’ve listened to other books where a male narrator is used for a FMc, but his performance blew me away by how well he could pull off the female voices and bring them to life. I look forward to listening to the rest of this series and more books that he narrates.

Loved this so much! Must read (see my review to know why!)

Honestly, this book really had a unique storyline that I freaking loved and need more of. I was pulled me in further and further as I watched Verity grow from having nothing to being thrown into a world that she couldn’t even imagine. I love how the RH aspect is intertwined with a splash of FF action (cause I’m totally for that myself *wink*) and that she got to choose who she trusted.

Ohhh!! And I have to mention that I love that the house is alive and is connected to her!! Like seriously that makes me more jealous of Verity than her harem! How cool is that!?

The book is in third person, which is a change up from the usual books I read, and there are different perspectives here and there from the guys perspective. However, you won’t really know who’s immediately as it’s not identified, but written in a way that you’ll quickly catch on to who it is.

Also! Love that the book is on audible cause I like to listen and read so if I have to stop and do something, I can continue the story while also doing things.

It’s read by a guy, which at first I was a little taken aback by because the story circles around the FMC, however, he has a really sexy tone that after a while it just feels right. And when the sex scenes come into play... *fans self* it does add more heat to the read/listen! Hehe

My intro into RH

This is the first RH I’ve ever listened to or read. Wow is all I can say. The storyline is intense and keeps you listening but the sex scenes are crazy hot!

Great story!

This was my first story by these authors and I loved it! It took me a couple days to listen because the kids are out of school, but it was intriguing and sexy and so worth the wait!

oh my gosh!

loved this book/audio! I'm not ashamed to say, but I neglected my poor family, I was just too engrossed. I did blush though.......note to self, make sure you're COMPLETELY on your own when not using headphones. I think I traumatised my teenage son (lol). ok the book...... story, yep I loved it completely. characters...... again I thought they were fantastic. nothing at all to hate. narration......... I enjoyed that too, but it weirded me out a little at first, was that a southern tinge I heard? but I could honestly listen to Joshua Macrae recite a telephone directory. so yeah, I'm off for a really cold shower. thank you

Excellent!

Slumber is an excellent start to an entertaining a new reverse harem fantasy romance series. The main character, Verity, gets launched into an entirely new world, the Fae Court. Verity, a fae princess has to fight for her throne on The Sleeping Court. The men are all intriguing, each holding a distinct but significant role in the Court and Verity's life. Several supporting characters are introduced, most are well-developed and charming.

Interestingly, the book is narrated by a guy. That being said, Joshua Macrae's performance is fabulous, bringing the characters to life. Overall the storyline is an entertaining and a great intro to the series. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A magical world

Verity was raised in the human world, unaware of what or who she really was. This first book is an excellent introduction to the main characters and their personalities. Joshua does an awesome job with the narrative, and trust me some of the scenes will have you fanning yourself! Earbuds are a must with this book, can’t wait to see what book two brings me.
