Set in Colonial New England, Slewfoot is a tale of magic and mystery, of triumph and terror as only dark fantasist Brom can tell it.

Connecticut, 1666.

An ancient spirit awakens in a dark wood. The wildfolk call him Father, slayer, protector.

The colonists call him Slewfoot, demon, devil.

To Abitha, a recently widowed outcast, alone and vulnerable in her pious village, he is the only one she can turn to for help.

Together, they ignite a battle between pagan and Puritan - one that threatens to destroy the entire village, leaving nothing but ashes and bloodshed in their wake.

“If it is a devil you seek, then it is a devil you shall have!”

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Which is worse? The Devil of the forest or the terror of Puritan village rumors, accusations, and lies? At the crossroads of victimhood and vengeance, Abitha makes her choice - and blood follows." (Richard Kadrey, New York Times best-selling author of the Sandman Slim series)

"I loved this book. A roaring, bloody, beautiful work of pure imagination." (Andy Davidson, author of The Boatman's Daughter)

"Punctuated by moments of unanticipated levity as well as unmitigated terror, this clever and imaginative tale is not to be missed by fans of dark fantasy and historical horror." (Library Journal)

As brom's other works. The reader was awesome though and I was entertained the whole time. Give it a try after listening to the others.

Good but not as good...

This book was amazing! Such a unique blend of dark creepy 17th century America Salem witch trial kinda vibe, classic fairytale, and Native American folklore. As with all his books, I also get kinda psychedelic vibes, especially with the magic and religious lore.

My 4th book by Brom now and they're all some of my favorite novels of all time. This guy should be a household name among fantasy lovers. What an absolute wizard.

Brom is criminally underrated

Lost Gods will probably always be my favorite Brom book but this one was a lot of fun too. It was good to go back in time to early America and witness the period and the early citizens and colonists fascination with witches.
Brom, as always, did a good job building the story and the characters. Even if it may have been predictable at times, it was still fun to watch unfold. I wish it had turned out a little better for the Carter's but that's life. I recommend this book.

I always enjoy Brom!

what a beastly good story! Brom's visceral storytelling as always sinks its claws in and refuses to let go until the end. If you love dark folklore, this one is for you.

amazing!

A fun and frightening take on our history that seems all too real. Brom's talent reaches so many mediums.

A Fun and Frightening Take ...

I love both Broom's Illustrations and storytelling, and found the book enjoyable. I came in with too high of expectations from formally reading The Child Thief and found this book, not as adventurist as the former book but still find enjoyable.

Enjoyable

reminded me of Naomi Novak's Uprooted and spinning sliver. there's a fifteen word minimum.

loved it

I checked this one out after I finished "Old Gods" by the same author. Brom is a famous artist and has illustrations for the main characters of his novels which you can view online. This was a fun little story with all of the gothic charm you would expect from Brom. A+
