Publisher's Summary

Small-town librarian Kathleen Paulson never wanted to be the crazy cat lady. But after Owen and Hercules followed her home, she realized her mind wasn't playing tricks on her - her cats have magical abilities.

When the body of elderly do-gooder Agatha Shepherd is found near Kath's favorite local cafe, she knows Owen's talent for turning invisible and Hercules's ability to walk through walls will give the felines access to clues Kath couldn't get without arousing suspicion. Someone is hiding some dark secrets-and it will take a bit of furtive investigating to catch the cold-hearted killer.

Relaxing Entertainment

This is my second "Magical Cats" book. I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first one.

I'm a fan of "cozy" mysteries. This book has everything I look for in a "cozy" - small town location, a "cast" of recurring, likable characters, a bit of humor, and a good mystery without explicit violence. One reason this series appeals to me is that the location is a fictional town in Minnesota, the state I've lived in all my life.

I enjoyed the narration by Sofie Kelly. For me she uses the the right amount of vocal distiction to each character. The tone of her voice is pleasing to my ears, and her diction is good.

I'm not a cat person

The idea of magical cats helping to solve a mystery is a bit over the top for me. However, the storyline and characters kept me interested in this book. I especially loved the reading of Cassandra Campbell. She brought the story alive and I was able to over look the silly cats. I have to admit that I enjoyed the book and will read the next story.

Better than Book 1, Things to Know..

I liked this book better than the first Magical Cats Mystery. I find it less dull (though it is not by any means exciting or action packed). We continue to have oodles of polite dialogue - discussions of whether Kathleen is ok, etc. The romance takes a tiny baby step forward but it is still the slowest moving romance I have ever seen. And unlike the last book, the end didn't annoy me. I was happy to like the killer less than the victim this time around. That ending in book one still bugs me - I mean does anyone really think after the end of the last book that everyone in town would still be buddies with Kathleen? Apparently they are! I had read some comments that made me think we wouldn't see enough of Hercules and Owen in this book, but I did not find that the case and I picked this series because of the cats. So we do get enjoyable cat time, but I was surprised that no other abilities have shown up and there's been no insight of any sort into the source of these abilities. I have already started the next book to see what happens next,

Magical Cats and Murder

Purrrrrfect entertainment for commuting to work and back. The only drawback is the effort it took not to "cheat" and keep listening once I arrived at my destination.

Cats

I just love cats and even though this is a bit of a silly story, I throughly enjoyed it. Meow 😸

A Pawtisive star rated Purrformance!

Sofia Kelly and Cassandra Campbell have teamed up again for an outstanding cosy mystery! Prior to me exploring this venue because of utter boredom with what I had been listening to, I would have looked at the book cover and summary and declared this to be the literature featured in the library for little old ladies and men who made sure their cats listened also. Boy was I wrong! Sleight of Paw has a good mystery, colorful and very human characters complete with faults, a dash of at least one good romance, and of course the furry heros. Try a book, be as surprised as I was!
