Staying in character can be murder when Cat Latimer and the members of her writers' retreat head for a ghost town....

Cat and the members of her writers' retreat have just arrived in Outlaw, Colorado, an "Old West" tourist town complete with inhabitants dressed up as famous figures from history. But this authentic slice of Americana takes a murderous turn when a college student masquerading as a 19th-century saloon girl becomes history herself.

Was she the intended target? Or did she take a hit meant for someone else? With a cast of suspects to choose from - including some notorious gunslingers and the sleazy town founders - Cat must unhorse the real culprit before a real-life ghost story is given a killer twist....

This is an adventure to enjoy. I only wish this place were real and you could book an adventure of your own there.

Cooney’s interpretation almost ruins the stories for me. Over the top emotion, wrong emotions, wrong stress on words, cadence off, snobby sounding main character, hard to put into words, but I know her interpretation causes unsettling feelings. On the other hand, I do enjoy the stories and the setting.

Love the story…

I am a cozy mystery fan but found this one over the top predictable and the characters seemed 2D. The narrator read well but the voices of two main characters ruined it for me . The boyfriend sounded too geeky to be an ex-army handyman and the retreat chef/friend too fake and monotone. I've liked Ms. Calhoun's other books so I would consider the next one in the series but borrowed from the library.

Too predictable.....
