Publisher's summary

What happens when success is impossible and failure isn’t an option?

In the ninth installment in the best-selling Mad Mick Series, several months have passed since Walter Lightspeed demonstrated he could restore power to the United States using his innovative wireless power delivery system. After a year in the dark, America was finally on the rebound. Optimism soared as people imagined an end to the most difficult period in modern American history.

Lightspeed’s success allowed him to take the office of President and gain the support of the military. With their backing—and the assistance of Conor, Ricardo, and their team—Lightspeed’s efforts to restore power were accelerated. He was making regular radio addresses to the American public to keep them updated and raise their spirits. He made Wi-Fi available to regions with power so people could use their phones to catch up on news and monitor the progress of power restoration. Jobs and aid were available for those who wanted them.

But Lightspeed underestimated his enemies.

The political establishment would rather leave the nation in ruin than allow an outsider to sit at their table. There were new enemies rising from outside of the country, but also from within its borders. There were the Luddites who decided that a year without power had restored balance and purpose to their lives. There were the foreign actors determined to strike in this moment of national vulnerability. There were even those within Lightspeed’s own organization who had become disillusioned with the way he was doing things and conspired against him.

These attempts to sabotage his national recovery effort are raising serious questions for Lightspeed and his team. Is destruction of the enemy more important than compromise?

Is it more important than saving the nation?

Wow. Just. Wow.

This series just gets better and better. Mr. Horton, you’re the GOAT. Mr. Pierce is bestowed the same accolade. Please rush the next one to market — the anticipation is killing me. I have to know how this ends!

Thrill ride once again

Great book , Mr Horton delivered once again! Did end dark and was unexpected, can’t wait for next Mad Mic installment. Hope to see Mic and Barb doing way more bad a$$ Rambo/Wick action

Absolutely riveting ! I have every book in the series and they are all magnificent and this one is no exception. And as always Kevin Pierce doing the narration is amazing, he really make the story come alive. I can’t wait for the book !!

Good pivoting

Solid book with the Mick taking a backseat as the story unfolded. Made sense with how it came together the last couple of hours.

Never disappointed in The Mad Mick

Just as gripping as the rest of the series. Looking forward to the next book of shenanigans and hurly burly.

He did it again!

Between Horton's words, and Pierce's narration, once again the post-apocalyptic world of The Mad Mick has risen up. Many tears were wrenched from me during this story, and I'll be both reading and listening many, many more times. Superb as always.

Great series, great book

I listen to a bunch of post apocalyptic series, most leave me flat and uninterested as more books are added, not this one! This series and the Borrowed World continue to keep my interest and provide new twists. I cant recommend this book and series enough!

A post Apoc. series with crystal ball

The way the world is heading, this series and others from FH point towards a glimpse of the future. I cannot wait for book ten to get a glimpse of the author’s view of the power struggle for America and it’s vast resources.

Another hit out of the park!

Just when I don’t think the Mad Mick can get any better, Franklin Horton proves me wrong again! Can’t wait for MM10!
