Publisher's Summary

Porter “Oz” Reed knows as well as anyone the damage words can do. So while he’s not looking for a relationship, he has no problem standing outside his apartment looking intimidating as his sweet neighbor finally kicks her verbally abusive ex to the curb. Just in case. But it’s Oz who’s punched in the gut when, at that precise moment, his 10-year-old nephew Logan is dropped on his doorstep.

After finally ditching her ex, Riley Rogers is ready for a break from men. But her plan to stay single takes an immediate hit when Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome from next door comes knocking, panicked at the prospect of caring for a nephew he never even knew existed. Riley’s only too happy to help. After all, Porter had her back when she needed him. And she feels a kinship with Logan...whose story hits a little too close to Riley’s own.

As they team up to make Logan feel safe in his new environment, Riley and Oz quickly fall hard for the boy and each other. But they’ve barely adapted to their altered lives when Logan shares a secret that changes everything - again.

Shielding Riley is the fourth book in the Delta Team Two series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliff-hanger endings.

Devastatingly amazing!

I didn’t think it was possible for Susan Stoker to write a book that would make me cry harder than The Boardwalk anthology, but Shielding Riley surpassed that tenfold! My mom happened to stop by right after the secret is revealed and she honestly thought my cat had died. I was absolutely hysterical. She’s an avid reader of the books as well, but she does the e-reader version. I told her to prepare herself. This one hit me harder than Alabama’s story and I may need to join a support group. Hats off to you, Susan!!! This book may have wrecked me, but I will definitely listen to it again. 💜

Finding Love and Family on this troubled journey

What an incredible emotional story. Virginia Rose gives an outstanding performance that actually had me in tears at certain points of the story. Oz discovers he has a nephew because his estranged sister was murdered and he becomes the boy’s guardian. He knows nothing about raising children and asks his beautiful neighbor Riley for advice. These three form a bond very quickly. His 10 year old nephew Logan is a fabulous character and I just loved his transformation as he learns to trust Oz. Riley has a problem with her ex that they think is alright. This story had me in tears but also made me smile. Grab the tissues and get ready to become drawn into this story. You will be cheering for these endearing characters created by Susan Stoker. So deeply touched my heart.

Over the top mushy

I am beginning to feel like all of these books are the same. The hero falls fast and is super crazy sweet and they always have these long drawn out mush fests. The heroine is all "omg he's so perfect and I'm so lucky". There is no banter, no humor, no well nothing. The kids are great. Virginia Rose did an amazing job narrating a boring book.

Good story

Another good story in Stoker''s Delta Team series. I loved how tough Aspen was and how Brain and his team respected her. Virginia Rose does a good job with the narration.

Oz- my new favorite

There are several things I loved about this book.
1) kids - there’s nothing better than kids softening up an alpha.
2) strong woman by his side - Riley was perfect.
3) angst not surrounding rescuing Riley but his family.
4) Oz showing emotions. Who told you men don’t cry?

I’m eagerly waiting on Grover’s story.

The story and narration were brilliantly done!!

This is the story of Porter/Oz and Riley.
This story is part of the Delta Team #2 series.
This story was so heart wrenchingly fantastic! This book has the feels, every single one of them, and some of them more than once or twice even.
It was endearing to see such a tough aloha man so completely out of his depth with a small nephew that was just delivered to him via social services after his sister was killed.
There are secrets.
There are lessons learned, by everyone.
There is drama, but oh! The ending... just the feels people, more of them.

This has got to be by far her third best ever book ( I’m kinda partial to #1 and #2 lol).

Get this book, a box of Kleenex and you will NOT be disappointed one single bit!!

Shielding Riley

Great book.story line was gripping at chapters. Good approach to sensitive issues of child abuse and what have to endure in foster homes.Let’s hope in reality children get a loving safe home as with Porter and Riley. Can’t wait for the next book. Only criticism Susan please write quicker lol
