Publisher's Summary

After a decade of hard work and dedication, Jayme Caldwell’s dreams of a Seattle bakery are whisked out from under her. She’s licking her wounds in Killeen, Texas, living with her memaw, Winnie, while contemplating her future. Of course, Memaw knows exactly the kind of future her granddaughter needs…and it starts with a handsome young man she tricks into having dinner with Jayme. She’d be upset…if the man wasn’t something straight out of any red-blooded woman’s fantasies.

Rocket Long never suspected the sweet little old lady he’d befriended at the grocery store would turn out to be a conniving matchmaker, cleverly setting him up with her beloved granddaughter. But once he lays eyes on Jayme, Rocket can’t be too upset. Especially when, at 40, he’d already given up on finding “the one.” Suddenly, the love and family he’d all but given up on could be his for the taking.

But life is precious. And short. And happiness can be snatched away in the space of a breath. All things Rocket may discover the hard way…before he even gets his ring on Jayme’s finger.

What was this??

This book honestly had nothing to do with the Delta team. Im not even sure what the purpose of this story was. There was no action, and barely there climax scene. They fell instantly in love and had serious lovey dovey your so amazing conversations for hours. Boring and unnecessary!! Virginal Rose was amazing, but not even her narration could save this one. Very disappointed

Laid back

I enjoyed this short book. No it didn’t have much in common with the rest of the series and the characters from this series made a brief appearance but it was nice to just read a good love story without all the angst and drama that I also love .Now onto Shielding Riley.

Cute story but....?

This was a very sweet story. However, it was confusing. By that I mean, it makes no sense that it was in the Delta Force 2 series. Yes Rocket was at one point in the military and currently worked on the helicopters at the Ft. Hood base, but he was NOT a member of the Delta Force 2 team. Seems as if it should have been in a different series. Maybe a whole new series of accompanying characters that support the two Delta teams? It was just odd, in my humble opinion. Aside from that a very nice story.

let down from past Delta Force story lines

nor the excitement as you've come to expect, missed the interaction of the other Delta families and the epilog felt forced

should label as novella, not delta team 2 characte

Really disappointed expected delta team 2 characters. Very light pat storyline, a token rescue towards end. A deIta member as a neighbor doesn't make it OK, I feel like the Delta team 2 label was just a bluff to sell the book. I love Stoker's books but felt mislead.

Made it about an hour before bailing. Nothing like the other delta books. Hoping book 5 picks back up...

A Good Man

I do enjoy listening to Virginia Rose. A pleasure to listen to.

This book is different, as our hero is a ex salior, who is now helicopter mechanic. A good down to earth working man. Who is looking for love and people to see his worth. And he has so much goodness and strength to give.
Rocket and Jayme are set up and a hmm blind date and the rest is history.
A gentle but just as worthy love story.

Disappointing

Expecting a usual action packed Susan Stoker book, I was really disappointed to find this is a simple twee romance. The only action, the hero messes up and does the wrong thing. The epilogues go on and on and get more sickly sweet with each successive update until I just wanted it to end.
