They say it's better to battle the devil you know. But what if you don't recognize him before it's too late?

She knows her name is Amelia, but after waking up in a hospital battered and bruised with just the clothes on her back, it's all she knows. Unable to piece together her shattered memory, she's haunted by a vision: menacing faces and voices implying her nightmare is far from over.

Relying only on her wits and her will to live, Amelia becomes a fugitive from a mysterious man, and a life she can't even remember. But the past she's fleeing has no intention of letting her go.

This is another book that I didn't think I would like. I was all set just to listen for a few chapters and then return it. However, I was pulled in pretty quickly and it turned out I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's not a great novel, but it is an engaging mystery that kept my attention throughout.

I have heard this narrator on several other books. I don't particularly care for her style or voice, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me.
This is a decent mystery that's worth a listen if you're looking for some entertainment.

Enjoyable mystery

As the plot for this book unfolds, Emily Sutton-Smiths calm voice guided you through the ups and downs and various characters perfectly. Not a typical plot for a thriller this story drew me in and I couldn't help wanting to know what would happen next. I loved the humanity the author portrayed in the flawed characters; it made them relatable and real showing the worst and best in us. I first heard this narrators voice in the Tracy Crosswhite series and hope she narrates more thrillers!

Great Plot & Excellent Narration

The book started out well, with an engaging plot line. However, midway through the novel the plot lost all credibility and the characters became wooden. The narration was excellent throughout.

Ran out of gas midway

It was suspenseful, but it came together too conveniently in the end. Wasn't happy with the last ten chapters.

She's Not There...good then lost my attention

I wish Audible had more of J.P. Parrish. This book was just the right amount of emotion and suspense. And as always, the narrator, Emily Sutton-Smith was terrific. I found this book looking for a book performed by her.

Loved this book!

I love books about amnesia, however it usually leaves me frustrated, not this time, it's well written without too many characters to keep track of,
The main character is a likeable woman, you can sympathize with her frustration to remember but I liked how it isn't written with that frustration on every page as in some books to the point that you want to tear your hair out.
I finished the book in no time bc I was so hooked !
This is my first book by this author but it definitely won't be the last, truly enjoyed it !

Emily Sutton-Smith was outstanding with the delivery of the story
