The first thing Sophia Amoruso sold online wasn’t fashion - it was a stolen book. She spent her teens hitchhiking, committing petty theft, and dumpster diving. By twenty-two, she had resigned herself to employment, but was still broke, directionless, and working a mediocre day job she’d taken for the health insurance. It was there that Sophia decided to start selling vintage clothes on eBay. Eight years later, she is the founder, CEO, and creative director of Nasty Gal, a $100 million plus online fashion retailer with more than 350 employees.

It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

Any additional comments?
I didn't really find anything of actual value just a lot of stories about herself and others who managed to come up with ideas to start businesses. It's nice to know if she can do it so can I... If I had a dollar for every time she plugged her website I would probably be a hundred dollars richer. This was a very "ra ra ra you go girl" book with lots of feel good vibes but no real usable content.

Marvelous Book.. Inspirational, educational and a pleasure to read
It's been a very long time since I have felt this inspired and motivated. Carrie's book is not only inspirational but educational. Her approach to entrepreneurship is very unique. In this book not only she shares her experience building the biggest online platform for female entrepreneurs, but she shares with her readers everything that has worked for her and provides very clear guidelines to help you turn your dreams into reality. This book has everything, more than good writing, good editing, and a great story that makes you want to read it again. This books provides the necessary tools to stop doubting yourself and start taking action.
As I started reading it, I started to feel so much more positive, and full of energy, so I decided to buy the Audiobook which allowed me to listen to it in the car while driving to my business. This book is a must read for any women who is looking to do more, to trust and put herself out there to shine and be successful.

Worst book ever
This book over promises, under-delivers. Mostly the advice is: change your posture, watch motivational videos. hope the universe will help and "believe." Sorry but it takes way more than that to build a business. If you're looking to simply feel good and read some inspiring quotes, this book is for you. But if you're looking for actual helpful advice and actionable items to help you succeed, this book WON'T HELP.

Fluffy and repetitive.
I don't think this book has a real thesis to it, no real plan, full of fluff, and all around was a common feel-good "#bossbabe" coffee-table reader. It is mostly about Green's business success, which can be helpful as anecdotes but seem to take over the whole book. I came away with "the universe will deliver" as the only mantra, which I really can't take too seriously. I sped it up to 1.5 speed and listened on the bus, but it still felt tedious; this is mostly due to the repetition of "I" or "me" or "my" or "FEA." I was relieved when the book was over but also disappointed that the rave reviews were based on appreciating fluff. I had continued to listen with the hopes of receiving that "ah-ha!" chapter that makes the whole book worth it. Lol.
All that said, Carrie Green has provided a first-step, warm-and-fuzzy book for nervous and hesitant female entrepreneurs, (which also functions as a clever ad for her website...), so I'd recommend it for high school students and those who are only just dipping their toes into the world of business books and entrepreneurship.

Mostly Fluff
While Carrie Green is wildly successful (and you will hear ALL about it in this book), she said it herself... Paraphrasing: "You're not going to please everyone. Different people are motivated by and connect best with different people." I'm sure she's a wonderful and obviously very hard-working person, but I was put off with the hundreds of times I heard "I" or "me" or "my" or the name of her business and the many, many references to the website. This book seemed like 90% motivation and inspiration. I don't need confidence. I need an action plan. I found myself constantly fast-forwarding 30 seconds at a time to try to find meat and escape the endless stories.

Some nice tips for developing entrepreneurs!
Carrie had some useful and insightful tips and ideas for entrepreneurs on any stage in their journey (even those who are just thinking about starting a business!)
The book was slightly slow to get going for me; the "motivational" part 1 I felt was quite long, and I was keen to hear more of the details about marketing/developing the business, etc. It was worth the wait, as I very much enjoyed the rest of the book and I will definitely be using some of the skills she recommended.

I really enjoyed this book and Carrie's unique introverted yet strong approach. Carrie is very honest with the ups and downs of her journey which I think is very refreshing and she shares case studies from a range of different businesses so no matter what your field of business there will be something for you.
As a mindset coach I liked the balance of her mindset elements and then her strategy that has allowed her to become the amazing success she is.
I would definitely recommend this book for any aspiring entrepreneurs!

Nothing new - sadly
Struggled with it. Felt like recycled content. If you have engaged with similar content it becomes quite same-y.

Inspiring & Motivating, I needed this book
What did you like most about She Means Business?
I bought the book and found it so good that I subscribed to Audible for the first time and got it to be able to listen on the go, to listen when I am stuck and feel down and need to be motivated and inspired. I like how Carry keeps saying, I'm not better than anyone, if I did it you can do it too!
What other book might you compare She Means Business to, and why?
I read girlboss, I really loved it but She means business is completely different, it takes you to the entrepreneurial journey from the idea to the let's make it happen and be successful.
In this book, you will learn that it is ok to be scared, it is ok to feel overwhelm, two of the biggest obstacles that every entrepreneur faces, Carrie shows us how to fight these feelings.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
I like the clear actions points and tips at the end of each chapter.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Great book, I couldn't put it down, easy read, great content, clear action points some top tips. I highly recommend this book for every women in business, a great tool if you want inspiration and motivation.
Any additional comments?
She means business, and thanks to the book, now I mean business!

Humble + very valuable advice
What I love about this book is that it isn't preaching or patronising (just finished listening to Girl Boss ~ which is slightly ott) . It's for real women. The advice is totally relatable and coherent.

Inspiring and informative
Carrie gives such practical, easy to follow advice for anyone who thinks they're meant to do bigger things but doesn't know where to start. I've been running my business for almost 2 years now and still took a ton away from reading this. would recommend to any female entrepreneurs or wannabe entrepreneurs to shift any doubts they might have.

Motivating
I am a female entrepreneur myself and I found this book really motivating and full of great tips and strategies. It's great to hear from Carrie's experiences and what she did when she came up against roadblocks, and how she kept moving forward to build a successful business. I will be referring back to this book as I continue my journey with my own business.
