All Jennifer Lewis wants is a normal life. A mother and father who loves her, family dinners, birthday parties, vacations, and playing with other kids in the neighborhood. Instead, her parents divorce and her mother marries an abusive man. Jennifer witnesses horrific fights. Her stepfather abuses her siblings and her. And the fallout ends in death and drug addiction for some of them.

When she enters adulthood, she's insecure, full of fear, and destined to repeat all the trauma from which she's emerged. How can she create the life she's always longed for? It's not until she begins changing her thoughts that her future begins to change. The path out of her traumatic past is full of pitfalls and setbacks, but she sets out to live a new story - a life full of health, financial stability, and love.

In Shatter the Silence, Jennifer shares the painful memories that formed her and the new way of thinking that helped her become victorious over a tragic past.

Trauma can re-program are thinking in such subtle ways, creating downstream effects that can make life even more challenging. This is a very vulnerable book, as the author shares moments from her own trauma and the writing, while raw with emotion, is never sensationalistic. If a book can be a gentle and caring friend, this is that book

I listened to this amazing book in one sitting! I couldn’t turn it off!
It’s a book about overcoming tragedy, abuse, death and insecurity. It seems the author was able to handle all of the hurdles thrown her way, by changing her mindset and trusting in the Lord.
It is very inspiring and humbling at the same time.
The author, Jennifer Lewis, has inspire me to pick myself up by the bootstraps and forge ahead. I have been basically housebound for early 2 years with depression and sadness. I am going to change my life around and if she can do it with all that she has went through, than so can I!

I will read this again and again. Such an inspiring book!
