Publisher's summary

From New York Times bestselling author Bernard Cornwell, now available in paperback—bestselling historical novelist Bernard Cornwell brings life to one of the most spectacular naval battles in history with SHARPE’S TRAFALGAR.

"The greatest writer of historical adventures today." —Washington Post

Critically acclaimed, perennial New York Times bestselling author Bernard Cornwell (Agincourt, The Fort, the Saxon Tales) makes real history come alive in his breathtaking historical fiction. Praised as "the direct heir to Patrick O'Brian" (Agincourt, The Fort), Cornwell has brilliantly captured the fury, chaos, and excitement of battle as few writers have ever done—perhaps most vividly in his phenomenally popular novels following the illustrious military career of British Army officer Richard Sharpe during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Chronicling Sharpe's involvement in the famous Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Sharpe's Trafalgar finds the young ensign captive on a French warship and in gravest peril on the eve of the one of the most spectacular naval confrontations in history. Perhaps the San Francisco Chronicle said it best: "If only all history lessons could be as vibrant."

My favorite so far

As a fan of the Horatio Hornblower series this felt like a satisfying crossover with that world. Sharpe is the perfect eyes through which to see the age of sail and his story is never lost among the drama of one of history’s greatest naval battles.

great story, great characters, 4.5/5 performance

I love Sharpe! just a rolling good time. this book was a nice break from India, I'm excited for him to get to the rifles. My one quibble has to do with the narrators mispronunciation of a few words.
Calliope is a Greek word and has an extra syllable on the end. and the first time gunnell is pronounced. it is pronounced like gun whale. other than that, very minor point, this book was excellent

Amazing story and reader, but missing content

I love these books by Bernard Cornwell, and the rest is fantastic. Unfortunately, this series as presented on Audible leaves out one of the best parts of Cornwell's books; the historical note. At the end of each book Cornwell tells of the fact/fiction of the story and the short notes really bring to life the amazing feats and horror of the historic battles. These notes were left out of this audiobook recording.

Maritime epic

Every summer I try to find a nautical adventure to read. This is my favorite to date. It’s hard to do Justice to a battle like this (in prose), but Cornwell pulls it off with grace. Don’t worry about reading these books in order. Just pick this up and go for it.

Wonderful

I’ve been through this series before in book from. The stories seem to come alive thanks to the author and the great reader. The way it’s going I’ll have to wait for the next in the series for audible to release. It will be well worth the wait. I would recommend this book and the series. Enjoy!

Great story!

As usual this was a wonderful story. I know it’s fiction but the setting is real as so interesting. And besides, I love Sharpe!

Captivating novel with great plot and excellent narration. Great

Once again, Cornwell has provided us with an excellent story that was superbly narrated. His ability to describe scenes is matched by no other. Richard Sharpe is a man’s man. :)
