Publisher's Summary

Once upon a time, my life was good. I had a family, I had a girlfriend, and hopes for the future. That was long ago, but I remember it. A hazy dream of what could have been. That's gone now. I lost it all. Life f--ked me over, and now I'm scared of my own damn shadow.

I'm training to be a tattoo artist, but I bet I'm not good enough. I have a roof over my head, but every morning I'm scared shitless that I'll find myself on the street again - or worse, back in prison.

And every time a pretty girl looks at me, every single f--king time, I know I can't be with her. Not only because she'll find out I'm an ex-con and run the other way, no. It's more than that. I just can't. The thought of anyone touching me, the thought of getting aroused from that touch brings back every damn nightmare from my past to swallow me whole.

Can't f--king do it. Not even if it's the prettiest girl on earth - Cassie. With her long blond hair and her pretty tits, her short skirts and high heels, she's all my fantasies rolled into one. See, the fact she kissed one of my buddies? That's good. The fact she looks at me like I'm a bug under her shoe? Even better. Because it means she's not interested in getting hot and sweaty with me and that I can keep living that fantasy. The fantasy that she wants to be with me as much as I want to be with her - even though I know it will never happen.

Love Shane!

This fourth audiobook in Jo Raven’s Damage Control series was just great listening. Be forewarned that if you have any issues with triggers such as rape, you shouldn’t listen to this book. The hero, Shane, has intimacy issues and frequent PTSD flashbacks from what happened to him while he was falsely imprisoned. The heroine, Cassie, has loved him for a long time and won’t give up on him. What neither of them knew is that there is something going on behind the scenes that is making things worse for him. The story has a great ending and the narration was very well done. Jo Raven just keeps writing better books with each one she writes!

I actually cried

I'm not a heartless person or anything but my goodness this book seriously got to me. I've listened to the Inked Brotherhood and Damaged boys all the way up to Shane and I have to say, Shane and Cassie are by far my favorite couple. They are very similar to Zane and Dakota whom I also adore but something about Shane and Cassie just tore at my heart. The narration and story were perfection and I felt like I was so involved in the story. I always liked Cassie despite mistakes she made. She more than proved herself in this book!

Shane & Cassie

This was a good story. It's very sad but Shane is a fighter. I only wished that the ending went more in depth of Shane dealing with his past than what we were left with. I'm sure Oceans book will touch on his progress. Narration was good especially Todd. He really draws you in and makes you feel the scene he is reading. Listen to this story. It's worth it.

My least favourite

I have really enjoyed all the damage control books so far. But this is my least favourite and took me a while to finish. I felt the storyline dragged on a bit. But from the sneak peak at the end I’ll definitely be listening to Ocean’s story.

Emotional!

Shane is heart breaking as well as uplifting. I found myself rooting for Shane and hoping that the ending would be a happy one. Having listened to the previous books , it is good to finally see what makes Cassie tick. I just adore this series.

heartbreaking

I just knew Shane's story was going to be gutwrenching. from Seth's story I guessed what had happened to Shane so I was nervous about listening to his book.
although, once again, the topic was treated with respect. I was so frustrated though ...wishing the heroine would do more. I got so caught up in Shane I forgot about Cassie. she too has demons and a lot of ground to cover from her role in Jesse's story
i was kinda wondering if Ms Raven could pull her redemption off as the inked brotherhood are tough nuts to crack...but by accepting Shane I guess her redeeming quality is born.
the other frustration was the amount of times the flashbacks and nightmares plagued shane, it was a long drawn out listen hearing his pain over and over, I was getting antsy just wanting him better already. but patience won out and I finished it. although I have to confess I knew the outcome of Ms Ravens little twist straight away.
enjoyed the narrators. Samantha is always wonderful and although it's a first time listen to Todd Howard, I believe he did an excellent job, especially as Shane had so much torture and there had to be a whole lotta emotion in the narrators voice. so koudos to you Todd.
it's been a pretty torn up journey for these boys as they, 1 by 1 keep earning their dragon tattoos.. .I'm going to go one more and I must confess I don't know too much about Ocean. but Kayla is interesting so let's delve 1 more time
