Cobb wanted a simple life. He wanted excellent steaks, great coffee, friends, and a quiet place to restore his favorite ship. Working for a recovery operation turned out to be the best place to find parts cheap.

She had other plans for him.

He wanted the staff of the deep space salvage ship, Oxcart, to treat him just like another member of the crew. Not the man he really was. Light years from Earth, he thought his secrets, his past, wouldn't matter. Especially not to her. When that past leads them to the Sentinel, like it or not, the biggest single salvage of all time will change everything.

Some secrets are so big, they can start a war. Or stop one. Or remain too big to explain when the timing could not be worse.

And it was all the damn cat's fault.

fantastic characters

the narration was amazing as was the story. I only wish the book was longer and had a little more detail or background story for the characters. Either way I want a sequel.

Call me Cobb!

This audiobook kept me company on walks and while I refinished my work bench. I thoroughly enjoyed it, the unexpected twists., the thought provoking science. This would make a great movie. It took a while but I think the narrators really warmed up to the characters. Highly recommend.

An excellent Sci-fi

Martin Wilsey never disappoints. His stories are suspenseful and exciting, and Shadows lives up to that standard. Highly recommend!
Audio note: both narrators did an amazing job, pleasant voices and wonderful acting.

Love the cat

Loved the storyline, action. I am now looking for the cat to make an appearance. You ask what about the cat,? The cat is a story in the making. Waiting for the next book.

Solid Sci-fi

Cobb is some kind of lucky guy...after being kicked out of the military (not his fault), he gets marooned on a planet by himself with just a few supplies. No worries, while he surviving he finds/creates some new tech that will revolutionize space travel and AI. As he tries to fly under the radar, he becomes involved with an assortment of good characters who fill in as family and help him reach the next level. All must be kept secret or dark forces will come after them. It's actually a very enjoyable, if far-fetched, read/listen. I got my copy through Audiobooks Unleashed!
