Story
I always believed in what I could see. Sure, I was raised in one of those Christian nondenominational churches by my parents and a very strict Mimi, but my beliefs were not exactly solid. That all changed when I found myself rocketing through the cosmos, after hitting an ambush while on patrol in the sandbox. I landed in a magic circle made by an Archmage bent on world domination. Spoiler alert, Fantasy Hitler isn't bulletproof!

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Publisher's Summary
Every corporation looks after its bottom line, but sometimes a corporation thinks it's an empire. The Mid-System Trading Company wants The Belt, and they don't care who they have to bribe or kill to get it. Their plans go south when a group of pirates hijacks the wrong shipment.
Fearing their plan will be exposed, MSTC hires an assassin to kill the pirates and retrieve the stolen weapons.
Sometimes, though, assassins can have consciences, pirates can be good guys, and battle armor can think it's an anime character.

Fresh Sci-Fi,Mil book that stands alone
My first review but since this book has no reviews I thought it worth while to help the author out and provide positive feedback.
This is a good story that is unique enough to warrant praise, the story and time period is close to the slightly pre Expanse series in intra-solar system age where humans are space bound, limited to the solar system, but have not diverged physically. The military aspects are woven into the story so as not to be a primary component but more of a defacto aspect. The story also is long enough and complete enough that it could be a stand alone but I hope a series develops.
Also I am a fan of sci-fi and work in tech, I feel the various aspects of jargon and technology were sound enough to suspend disbelief and that is across physics, AI, computers, military, etc (I have no military service so that aspect is a low bar). My only underlying question was in time as it seems to run together or pass in bursts without properly addressing it across the solar system (ie 4 chapters spent in a 12 hour period in multiple settings then suddenly its 2 weeks later and a long journey is done). I think this is something to just ignore as it does not subvert the story.
The narration is very good, the narrator sounds interested, the mixing is good, chapters and sections are given breaks to differentiate, and voices are distinct and quality. There are a few sound effects mixed in but mostly support the mood. If this series continues I would hope Mr Tuell continues.
In the end, I found myself rooting for characters, excited for reveals, and vested more than I have been in a while for a book. This book is well worth a credit and is a fresh outing in this genre.

Damn Good Sci Fi
If you love science fiction then you will love this book. It has dystopian future corporate espionage. Spy vs Spy. Ship to ship battles. Pirates. Romance. Everything. The Narrator did a great job as well. He uses very few affects and the ones he does use aren't distracting. I highly recommend.

The author is going places
the story immediately drew me in. He gives you enough to make the characters intriguing without giving everything away. It's a fresh take on a well-known situation, massive corporation, multinational government, and the little guy just trying to get by through any means necessary. With some work, he's going to be on the level of OSC. The dialogue was annoying in parts, but overall, I forgive that because the story is told so well. I can't wait for his next book.

Great book
This is a great story with some humor. Story plus narration kept my attention & I couldn’t put it down.I have a Suggestion for the narrator: learn how to do Irish accents (and others) It would have added so much more dimension to your characters. Other than that, narration was good.
