One sassy pyromaniac thief, three sexy-as-sin monsters, and a paranormal conspiracy of epic proportions.
It was an ordinary job. Another night, another asshole collector of the supernatural. I free some poor little beasties from their cages, pocket a few trinkets to pay my bills, and burn the place down on my way out. Just call me the Robin Hood of monster emancipation.
I didn’t count on three manly monsters following me home like lost puppies. Stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. Now I’ve got a seductively cheeky incubus, a sweetly enthusiastic demon, and a grimly stoic angel camped out in my kitchen. They’re determined to repay me for my help, and they won’t get out of my apartment until they’re satisfied we’re even.
To be fair, they’ve got no place else to go. A covert band of hunters captured their boss, and the trail is ice-cold. I’ll lend a hand if it means I can send them on their way...and when it looks like we’re up against the same creeps who murdered the person I loved most, you’d better believe I’m all in.
Track down the baddies.
Steal back the boss.
Don’t get killed along the way.
Oh, and maybe hook up with a monstrous hottie or two.
Piece of cake.
I’m so going to regret this.
Shadow Thief is the first book in a new reverse harem urban fantasy series. If you love kickass heroines with sass to spare, drool-worthy monsters with their own sense of morality, and steamy romances where there'll be no choosing required, dive in now!

It's not award winning literature, but the characters have development and growth which is essential to any book and I would argue especially important to science fiction, which can't rest its laurels on real-world assumptions. It has pretty good world building as well and just enough unexplained yet teased at characters and backgrounds that I think I will pick up the next book.
It has pretty darn yummy, tantalizing male figures and just the right amount of eroticism and good sex scenes. I would say it's just the right amount without going into dirty / p*rn territory, however, she has what I would call loose morals which make me dislike her intelligence and relatability as a decent human.
other comments... SPOIL ALERT... and a little bit of constructive criticism + book club discussion if you feel like reading more...
Coming from a lady who likes me some romance novels, I am certainly not a prude. I am a bit of a feminist, and I really detest the word "slut" as it is commonly used for women. Having said that, the way that Sorsha hooks up with every man in the gang, with practically back-to-back sex in a group of "friends" or colleagues is why she goes into that territory. This behavior and lack of morals makes it a bit more cheesey (porn like because it's ridiculous). I know. I did say I like sci-fi and to escape reality. But my favorite kind of sci-fi is when you have a relatable smart human/hero/heroine who will make decisions that you would make ( or someone you can imagine) amidst a crazy world where things are not possible. That's the fun in sci-fi is imagining how a real person would react. IMHO. 3 men is just too much. Giving The benefit of the doubt, maybe she was trying to be original and break the plot cliche of indecision between two men?
Last comment, so you can better judge my comments knowing where I'm coming from as you read this, I feel women should be allowed to sleep around just as much as men. If that is their choice there shouldn't be a double standard in judgment. They can do what they want, they can have sex with who and when they want, but it's a whole different thing when you 'poop where you work' and purposely try to set friends against each other. She is apparently so horny she ignores people's feelings except of course her own selfish need to protect herself emotionally, yet not at all physically. She's a moron. LOL. Bottom line is I feel that her overzealous libido detracks from her intelligence or severely lacking EQ. So while I want to really like her that takes off major points. I don't really like her but I don't hate her.
For the record, I could LOVE a good slutty character, but I don't like dumb people who are unkind.
okay, I am dismounting my high horse.
The bottom line is: I like the book, I would recommend it for frivolous reading and I'm going to read the next. :) But if the heroine(s) continue to be this mean and dumb I definitely won't get beyond book two.
Please excuse any speech-to-text speech-os and lack of automatic capitalizations :(
fun for what it is

I think this maybe my favorite series yet. And as for the narrators on the audiobooks? Vanessa Moyen and Aiden Snow do an amazing job and have me laughing out loud.

I love Eva's books! I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am loving the chemistry between Sorsha, Ruse, Thorn, and Snap. I can't wait to see how their relationship will progress over the course of the series. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ended on a cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series Twilight Crook.
Aiden and Vanessa did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this series if you're looking for an urban fantasy romances, why choose romances, or romantic suspense.

The Heroes: Ruse, Snap and Thorn - The guys are all higher shadow kind. Ruse is an incubus who feeds off of sexual energy, he is very weak after Sorsha frees them from not feeding in a while. Snap has a forked tongue and can taste things and sense impressions of the history of that object and emotions attached to them, he can see the people in his mind that held those objects. Thorn is a warrior and is like a man from a past age, very formal and protective kind of stand off ish
They refuse to leave her stating that they own her a life debt and wont leave till they know she wont get any back lash from the "Collectors" in an effort to get rid of them quicker she agrees to help find their boss who was taken captive by a group of heavily equipped men,
The story is interesting. While listening to the story i have many questions. Which isn't out of the norm as this is a pretty long series. in curious to see where the story will go. Sorsha isn't just a human. we can tell from the little hints of foreshadowing that Eva Chase has given us so I'm excited to learn more about that.
Great start to a series

So starts Sorsha's adventures with Thorn, Snap, and Ruse. Thorn is brawn, Snap has the look of a sun god, and Ruse is, well, Ruse is an incubus. A very tasty looking incubus and he needs, er. to replenish his energy. Sorsha finally gives in, I mean a girl needs some lovin' every now and then and who better than an incubus? It seems the guys have sort of misplaced their boss, Omen. Well, actually he was captured before they were, and not by a collector. Sorsha agrees to use her contacts to help them find him. Read what happens for yourself. Enjoy.
