Story
With 12 hellhounds after her, pregnant Charley Davidson takes refuge at the only place she thinks they can't get to her: the grounds of an abandoned convent. But after months of being cooped up there, Charley is ready to pop. Both metaphorically and literally, since she is now roughly the size of a beached whale. Fortunately a new case has captured her attention, one that involves a murder on the very grounds the team has taken shelter upon.

As a part-time PI and full-time grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper extraordinaire, is pissed. She’s been kicked off the earthly plane for eternity - which is the appropriate amount of time to make a person stark-raving mad. But someone’s looking out for her, and she’s allowed to return after a mere hundred years in exile. Is it too much to hope for that not much has changed? Apparently it is. Bummer.

Story
A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

Publisher's Summary
Twelve. Twelve of the deadliest beasts ever forged in the fires of hell have escaped onto our plane, and they want nothing more than to rip out the jugular of Charley Davidson and serve her lifeless, mangled body to Satan for dinner. So there's that. But Charley has more on her plate than a mob of testy hellhounds. For one thing, her father has disappeared, and the more she retraces his last steps, the more she learns he was conducting an investigation of his own, one that has Charley questioning everything she's ever known about him. Add to that an ex-BFF who is haunting her night and day, a rash of suicides that has authorities baffled, and a drop-dead sexy fiancé who has attracted the attentions of a local celebrity, and Charley is not having the best week of her life.
But all of that combined barely scratches the surface of her problems. Recent developments - and a few distressing prophesies - have forced her to become a responsible adult. Exactly the kind of adult she's never aspired to be. To conquer such a monumental task, she's decided to start small. Really small. She gets a pet. But how can she save the world against the forces of evil when she can’t even keep a goldfish alive? A tad north of hell, a hop, skip, and a jump past the realm of eternity, is a little place called Earth, and Charley Davidson, grim reaper extraordinaire, is determined to do everything in her power to protect it. We're doomed.

ONE OF THE BEST BOOK SERIES OUT THERE.
If you love Jeaniene Frost or Kresely Cole's book series you HAVE to give this series a try. Each book has different adventures that your favorite characters go on so one never gets bored and each book is better than the last. The author has developed a fun and amazing character in Charley Davidson that you won't be able to get enough of. Laughter, romance, and supernatural beings, what more can you ask for.

Sarcasm at its finest.
Another funny book to add to the Charlie Davidson's collection. I do love Charlie but sometimes she does the stupidest things. Of course that is part of her charm. She cracks me up with her antics and sarcasm even while you roll your eyes at her. We get to see all the old gang again which is great, love them all. By now if you have been listening to this series you know you like it so if you haven't gotten it yet, what are you waiting for? Narrator is awesome as usual and has the perfect pitch for all the characters.

Charley Needs to Grow Up!
Where does Seventh Grave and No Body rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's mid-way down the list.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Predictable but interesting.
Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Hmm, not sure.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No.
Any additional comments?
I don't know if I'm going to continue with this series. The humor seems forced at times and others? I was rolling my eyes. Charley hasn't really matured much and if I was Reyes, I would leave her and her antics behind. She doesn't seem to learn from her mistakes.

One of my favorite series!
I agree with all the glowing reviews of this wonderful series. And Lorelei King's narration is so skilled and so perfect for all the characters. She's amazing in her talent to capture each character with a totally identifiable vocal quality.
I love Charley and Reyes with all their passion (lots more delicious sex in this book) and Osh (spelling?) and Uncle Bob and...you get the point.
Darynda Jones has a wonderful writing style and I can't wait for the next book that I hope she hurries up and writes before I have too much caffeine.

Don't- Miss Installment to Fantastic Series
Where does Seventh Grave and No Body rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top Three
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes! There is always so much going on in these stories whether it is a mystery, an attack by paranormal creatures, humorous antics or a smoldering romance.
What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Oh wow! She made this story come to life for me. I love reading my own books and imagining for myself, but it was like she got right in my head to channel Charlie, Cookie and the rest.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, there were a few. I loved when Charley understood what Reyes suffered from reading human emotions around him and in another moment when she realized he was going to sacrifice everything to protect her and their daughter.
Any additional comments?
This was a fantastic story. I loved most of it, but there are a few times when Charley's leap before she look actions made me shake my head. This one is a pivotal story and so much happens that I'm still processing it all. Just amazing reveals going on.

Very good addition to the series :)
4 stars
This was a very good addition to a great series. Overall, the elements that I've loved about the series are still there but Charley has changed a bit with this book...maybe it's the hormones or something but she gets a little TSTL in this book. Charley is still the heroine I know and love, exhibiting her snarky attitude and caring nature, but she definitely has a few moments in this story where she seems to let emotions rule her (even more than normal).
So the supernatural elements are escalating as Reyes and Charley discover that 12 hellhounds are on Earth looking to tear them both apart. Because of this, Reyes isn't letting Charley out of his sight and insists on going with her while she works her cases. This wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the fact that Charley thinks he's doing it because she's not able to look after herself (and rightly so against 12 hellhounds) and so she chafes at his accompanying her all over and tends to try to slip away unnoticed. She has a couple of cases she's working on in addition to some other issues that come up along the way and she seems to get herself in even more trouble than normal.
The story was interesting and the series storyline seems to be moving along better and I appreciated that. The fact that Charley seemed determined to get herself killed in this one was a bit annoying but thankfully she didn't succeed. I liked how things are building and I'm looking forward to seeing how the next book goes...lets just hope Charley's hormones are doing better and she gets over her TSTL moments. Overall, this was still a very good addition to the series and I'd recommend it. :)

Fantastic!
If you could sum up Seventh Grave and No Body in three words, what would they be?
Funny, thrilling, and jaw dropping.
What other book might you compare Seventh Grave and No Body to and why?
Their is no other like it! This series is truly unique.
Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favorite?
Charley of course
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Hell Yes!
Any additional comments?
Charley's story picks up right where she left off in Sixth Grave on the Edge.............she's pregnant. And in Charley fashion, we are calling the baby B.E.P., (short for Black Eyed Pea), but pronounced Beep, lol.....gotta love her! This adventure is about Charley trying to find a way to kill the 12 without getting killed herself, or that gorgeous fiance Reyes either. Knowing how deadly they are, Charley is more determined than ever to find out who summoned them and why. Well, it's without saying we know the answer, but Charley wants a confession 'cause that's how she rolls.
All of the characters we know and love are present and accounted for; Rocket, Blue, Strawberry Shortcake, The Dealer, Garrett, Cookie, Amber, Artemis, Angel, Quentin, Gemma, Uncle Bob, and even her annoying ex-bestie Jessica! For Pete's sake the girl doesn't know when to just go away, and Jessica really knows how to make Charley's Barbara hurt! This crazy (and that term is literal for Rocket!) bunch Charley calls "family" joins forces to A) Keep Charley and Beep safe, and B) find out how to kill the 12.
Now, you know Charley can't just oh, focus on saving the world, no! She also takes a case from Father Glenn about a haunted house, helps Ubie try to solve a string of suicides that they think are not really suicides, help a dead girl find out who and why someone stole her body from her grave, investigate her father to see what he is investigating, find out how to kill the 12, and kill them, help Garrett recover a "sample" for DNA testing on his exes baby 'cause he looks an awful like Garrett, all while dealing with major grief from Fred and Barbara for quitting caffeine cold turkey!
Let me just say that this book doesn't lack in comedy, action, or emotion. It is so endearing to be witness to the love that Charley and Reyes feel for each other and Beep. There are tear jerking moments between them in the book but in a good way that makes me love them even more. I want Lego sized versions of them to keep with me at all times! Then there are Cookie and Uncle Bob. They are so cute with each other, but Charley has conflicting tenderness and gag-me reactions to their displays. As we go through this new journey with Charley and her gang of misfits, more of the puzzle is unraveled, and truths are revealed. Reyes has always told Charley she could do anything she wanted, she just didn't know how true that statement was. The revelations at times are jaw dropping, heart pounding and filled with adrenaline moments that kept me on my toes in anticipation of what would happen next! You will be taken closer to finding out who and what Charley really is, more than you ever have in the past!
Narrator review: Lorelei King has been the narrator for all of the Charley Davidson books thus far. She does an excellent performance with Charley's sarcastic and witty personality. I have this unusual pull toward her voice for Amber, not sure why yet, but for an unknown reason to me at this time, I love it! Her male voices are just unique enough to decipher the difference between them but not so much that you want to rip her face off. I really enjoy her tone when speaking as Charley. It's so calm and matter of fact, even when Charley is being a pisser. It's that tone that makes the funny things Charley says even funnier! How Lorelei portrays Jessica is spot on! That is totally how I imagined someone like Jessica's voice sounding like.
