Seven Pillars of Wisdom is a monumental work in which he chronicles his role in leading the Arab Revolt against the Turks during the First World War. A reluctant leader, and wracked by guilt at the duplicity of the British, Lawrence nevertheless threw himself into his role, suffering the blistering desert conditions and masterminding military campaigns which culminated in the triumphant march of the Arabs into Damascus.

Sand,Camels and a Genius

For a long time I have wanted to read "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" I am glad I didn't. I never would have put in the fantastic narration that gives this book a life. Roy McMillan puts so much verve in the interpretation, all the characters have their own voice. This book is true history as it comes from Lawrence's confused mind.. It has action , of course, camel rides for days under the most sever conditions,rides in Rolls Royces filled with high explosives intrigue, betrayal tense page turner. I listened to it in two days. It' fantastic! I believe you'll love it.

Perfect descriptive prose.

I’ve never read anything that even remotely rivals the perfection of this prose. His mastery of English is on par with Shakespeare. All of the descriptions of this epic journey would border on gaudy if they weren’t true and and effectually necessary to portray the odyssey of it all. Wow. Just wow.

Great story

Great story very well written. He surprised me with the amount of detail in his descriptions of what was happening.

Exceptional Companion to the Movie!

This rich text is not for the faint of heart nor hard of hearing. After 24+ hours of narration, the 3+ hour movie seems much more reasonable for those new to epic tome. I wonder how much more could have been added to Peter O'Toole portrayal of this fascinating man? I think he was spot on after enjoying this book.

I will listen again before the end of the year! It lessens the bad taste 2020 has deposited in all our souls and stomachs.

Overall

Mr. McMillan did a splendid job of reading this marvelous work. The insightful personal in-depth accounts of Lawrence’s experiences are vivid , graphic and marvelously scribed.
