Publisher's Summary

Witty and elusive Eugenia Snowe has all society begging for one of her premiere governesses - except the powerful Edward Reeve, who bursts into her office with his arrogant demands.

No question that Eugenia enjoys crossing wits with the brilliant inventor, but Ward wants far more than a governess. He wants Eugenia, and he'll stop at nothing to have her - including kidnapping.

Will Eugenia lose her heart in the most reckless gamble of her life, or will she discover the sweetest pleasure she's ever known?

All it will take is seven minutes.

Another winner!

Another fabulous Eloisa James book!

I love the way Eloisa writes dialogue. Especially for children. They were delightful.

I had forgotten that Ward was engaged to Mia and sent to prison. The character crossover is one of the things I enjoy about these books. The Duke of Villiers is still a stunning gent!

Eugenia is another strong woman. Eloisa James gives us great characters. And this story was laugh out loud funny at times.

The audiobook narration was good but not perfect. A little too "breathy" for me. But I can't wait for the next one!

Unique and entertaining story.

Any additional comments?

The romance is unique and moves at a good pace. The main characters, Eugenia and Ward, both have tragic backgrounds but have turned out strong and loving. There are many interesting supporting characters, and the children are wonderful. The story is not predictable, it has humor, romance, strong family ties, and sensual interludes. Over all a great time.
I usually like Duerden's narration but I got very tired of her voice. It sounds like everyone is constantly whispering. That got old. But I would recommend the book, lots of fun and romance.

Excellent romance

A little slow at first but with a little over six hours left, it became really good. Widow Snow meets Ward. She is from a titled family, but he doesn't know that. He is the bastard son of a titled man who was raised in his father's family. Ward needs a governess for his young brother and sister and he goes to Ms. Snow's agency. He is smitten and later she is too. But he wants to marry a lady, and he does not know Ms. Snow is from a very high family. It is a pity that he desires Ms. Snow because he doesn't doesn't believe he can afford to lose his heart to her - she is not good enough for him. Excellent. And the narration is perfect.

Bravo!!

As usual, Eloisa James has done a marvelous job! Her books always include well researched interesting facts along with colorful, relatable characters and, of course, much love and laughter. Susan Duerden does an excellent job narrating as well. She provides the perfect regal touch and her timing and character impersonations are impeccabled

Overall Pretty Good

Eloisa James is a fun historical romance author, and I enjoyed this book very much. The only thing that was a little "meh" was that the narrator didn't use enough characterization in her voice of same-gendered characters, so it was difficult to know who was speaking from time to time when they were having a conversation. It didn't make me stop listening, but it was something I noticed.

Excellent story!

I enjoyed the story very much. The narrator seemed to whisper most of the conversation, making it difficult to understand.

Ran flat soon after it started

I was ready for a great story to loose myself in and unfortunately selected this book. Completely bored with the book after the first hour or so and the sex scenes seemed to be put in instead of substance. Don't waste your money or credit on this one. Sorely disappointed.

Humor, history, suspence, sex... what fun!

This was my first Eloisa James romance, purchased because I saw an interview with her on CBS Sunday Morning in early February, 2017 and loved her attitude about romance novels. As a lover of Robyn Carr, Dianna Gabalton, Molly Harper, Jane Austin and other wonderful romance novelists, I thought an entirely different romance genre might be worth sampling.

I enjoyed this one so much, I immediately went to look for the other two novels in James' "Duchess by the Numbers" series. The humor sparkles, as does the wonderful plot which made me give a rat's arse about what happened to the characters. And, of course, the gentle erotica added to the entertainment value as well as the suspense and gentle tension.

For sheer romance, entertainment and just a bit of titillation in an historical setting and a classically romantic novel, I highly recommend "Seven Minutes in Heaven."

What a pleasurable way to pass the time!

After my first listen to Seven Minutes in Heaven I went back and listened to the entire series for a second time. I love Eloisa James's intelligence and sly wit. Susan Duerden's husky voice adds to the over all sensual qualities of James's writing and I truly appreciate her correct pronunciation of words that cause other readers to stumble.
Even though Seven Minutes in Heaven is said to be the final book of the series, I hope it isn't true and we get to hear more stories about individual members of these intertwining families.
