Publisher's summary

“The only way to create great relationships and results is through servant leadership. It's all about putting other people first.” (John Maxwell, legendary business leader and author)

If you want to lead by example, develop great relationships, and serve through leadership, keep reading. Because, this book is for you.

This value-dense guidebook features actionable principles extracted from over 40 renowned servant leadership experts and practitioners, including prominent business executives, bestselling authors, and respected spiritual leaders. These and the proven easy-to-follow techniques and exercises are the reason why more and more people who peruse this book are becoming the charismatic and thoughtful leaders that lead the charge in their organization.

Will you be one of them?

Say yes, and you’ll discover:

  • The few important things most traditional leadership books skip that are incredibly to master as a leader
  • The easy-to-follow steps to get rid of the hidden disadvantages of hierarchy inside your organization
  • The three uncommon characteristics of leaders that are the secret ingredients to becoming a leader, understood without explanation
  • Ways how subtle tweaks in behavior can make a world of change when it comes to persuasion, authenticity, and conveying your words with confidence
  • The single most powerful way of managing projects using principles of many agile management leaders

Serve to Lead is different, as it relies on modern proven methods, not on ass-kissing; on creating rapport, not on power display or punishments. Rather, through positive reinforcement and relationship-building, you lead an organization to long-term success.

After trying the exercises for a week, most listeners will be stunned by the improved self-image and leadership capabilities they produced!

Buy it in print

I never realized how important stories and examples are to an audiobook until I listened to one that didn’t have any. I’m sure this book has lots of great insight, but I couldn’t focus and stay engaged long enough to hear it. It has tons of lists, so if you buy the audio, make sure you have a way to take notes. Otherwise, just buy the print version.

Get out what you put in

The subject is great, very well researched. It seems to have a lot of lists and detailed analysis, so it’s very difficult to listen to casually.
The way it’s read is difficult to follow along as it’s read in a very dry technical way.

Good first half, okay second half

I enjoyed the first half, specific to leadership. I felt like I was listening to an entirely separate book the second half. It was fine, but I wasn’t interested in the portion on Agile. A+ for the servant leadership portion, though.

very basic with poor delivery

The content is so hard to listen to, very little narrative and get uncompelling narration. Would not recommend.

Really clear explanations

The book explained the concepts really well and helped with my reflective practice. However the narrator went really fast and I had to relisten to parts of the book a good few times to really absorb what was being said. Found the explanation of the project management models really clear and concise.

Gives you an introduction to different leadership styles and focuses a bit too much on different agile and lean work methods. Worth listening to.

Workbook to go with this?

I love this audio book! Is there any useful worksheets etc that might compliment this book so a roadmap and plan to develop might be more effective?

Not really feeling it

The information in the book was good, but also very common. I feel like as though I already read most of the book before

Put others first!

real leaders have to put others first and don’t have to be afraid to mess things up and take responsibility for it, those were the key things I got from the book and they could not be more true obviously. Great audiobook with a pleasant narrator.

Needed to be longer

I enjoyed this book quite a bit and it has a lot of great information, but i just wish there was more to it. The audiobook was very short which definitely was a bummer
