Great Story

I like this story a lot, and I like the narrator for Lou. But the narrator for Reid drove me insane.

Witch please.

The craftsmanship of this writing was just a masterpiece. I could tell I was gonna love this one from the first page. I read and rate lots of books and don’t give 5 stars lightly. This one is very well-deserved!

Ahhh

Excellent book, I love love loved it. Lou’s character is so great. Her sarcastic remarks are my favorite and I love the way she curses like a sailor. I’m a huge fan of the way this book was written and the excellent tension built between Reid and Lou. I’m starting the second and can’t wait to see where the story goes!

WoW WoW Wow!

This was so thrilling! it was laced with magic, suspense, beautiful prose, and was so well written. The narration was outstanding. Can't wait for the next book in the series...

Enjoyable!

This was what I wanted and expected from a YA novel, a fun easy listen with interesting characters and world building.

My only big complaint is the male narrators voice, I think he took pauses at weird times and his voices could be over the top and felt disconnected. But it didn’t totally ruin it for me, I’m listening to the second now.

Deliciously twisted in all the right directions

It was admittedly hard to connect with the main character at the beginning but that eventually got better as her facets were revealed, the connections between characters became more and more tangled and then I was completely sucked in. Great plot, amazing characters and love the twists, I can’t wait to read book 2!

This book did not disappoint. A romance between 2 complete opposites (so we think) forced into marriage and leaving their loves and past lives behind.

Killer character. My only regret is a read it so soon now I have to wait for the 2nd.

As for the narrators they were great, but sometime the guy had a growly voice that seemed unnecessary and left me giggling

One of my favorites

This book is one of my most favorite stories. An enemies to lovers romance filled with intrigue and magic. Set in a land based on old France, you meet the players Lou, a witch, and Reid, a witch hunter. Forces beyond these two force them together and change their lives.

It has a romance for the ages, strong friendships and questionable parental bonds. it's one story I always recommend to people who are first getting into YA fantasy.

As for the narrators, Saskia does a fantastic job. her performance is smooth and her voices are varies. Holter is a new narrator to me. His performance took some getting used too. His voices are also varied and I hear his voice when I think of Reid. However, he likes to put dramatic pauses in his performance and it kinda reminds me of William Shatter or Christopher Walker in it's cadence.

Once I got used to it I barely noticed but it's jarring for a first time listen.

I enjoyed the story but...

The male narrator was so stilted, awkward, and weirdly paced with his reading. I found myself just trying to bare it until it switch back to the female narrator. All 3 of my stars for performance are hers. -2 for him.
