Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

Publisher's Summary
There is no doubt that Yolanda Saldívar pulled the trigger and killed Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla Pérez on March 31, 1995. But does anyone know what really happened in room 158 of the Days Inn moments before the crime took place?
María Celeste Arrarás has many answers, and her unrivaled coverage of the murder, trial, and aftermath made her the undisputed expert on the Selena case. Arrarás shares firsthand information about the crime and the people involved - including details of her headline-making jailhouse interview with Yolanda, who repeatedly spoke of “Selena’s secret” - a powerful hidden piece of information that she refused to divulge in the courtroom but revealed to Arrarás at length.
Many questions were raised, and not all were answered until this revealing interview shed light on the crime. Why was there a suitcase filled with Selena’s clothes at the murder scene? What was the significance of the jeweled ring, adorned with the initial S, that fell from Selena’s bloody fist? Who was the doctor from Monterrey who called himself Selena’s confidant and business adviser?
Selena’s Secret fits together the pieces of this puzzle and depicts what really happened on that rainy day in March.

This book makes Selena look to be a adulterous. Her upbringing as a Jehovah's Witness taught her better morals than this. To even entertain such deceitful people who said what they said, only because Selena herself could not defend herself, was disgusting in itself. Im disappointed

Interesting history, very poorly developed.
Selena's story is fabulous but the way Maria Celeste's development in her book is poor and written in Spanish without a real writer's foundation, it's as if a beginner had written it. It got even worse when she translated it into English where it is clearly seen that she had no professional help making grammatical basic errors of literal translation and bad pronunciation in some words which takes away professionalism.
She felt in reading, the vocal expression as in a Latin American radio soap opera, acting with loud and forced voices trying to give more action and performance to the characters described in a very exaggerated and bad way.
She tried to do so many things by herself with overconfidence and personal exaltation as he narrates in his book, trying to prove that she is the best, to the point that she lost the whole concept of writing well and translating badly.
I would not recommend it even though Selena's story is tragic, cute, sad but wonderful.

I didn’t like the voices used to narrate the store. The heavy accent and high pitched were quite annoying. It felt a lot more of a brag piece on the authors accomplishments. All these pages just to say she was t going to reveal the secret?

Disappointed
This book offered very little insight, there were some small details about the case I found to be new or interesting. Overall it only repeated everything that most Selena fans already knew. I am not sure why Suzette was angry about this book, but I would like to know. I could of spent my time being productive or listening to a better book...no real secret or supposed secret was ever revealed. The author was just like anyone else trying to make a buck off this tragedy. What I really disliked was that the author narrated, she was awful! That accent was heavy and when she did Yolanda's voice my ears bled, so don't waste your time. You can find out everything in this book by just doing a little research.

Wanted to see for myself
I am a big Selena fan and had to know what this was all about. Just because, I was upset thought out this whole book, there’s a lot in here that aren’t ask the way correct, and it makes me mad that she keeps calling Yolanda the accused! No she is a murderer, she advised it in the car. So it’s not the accused, it’s the tried and found guilty of murder, murderer! That’s all I don’t believe any of this, and also I don’t like how she kept putting in information about her personal life, it’s suppose to be about Selena’s murder, not some man who you thought hit on you after you got married! Keep the focus on your next books about what the purpose is, I didn’t care to hear about her personal life, it was cheesy and made me cringe. I feel bad for people like her, who had to make up these stories and then go along with it to entertain her murderer, and some lying doctor. If you want to know the story she tells then listen, but if you’re a Selena fan, it’s not worth it. Go read Chris Perez book with love to Selena it’s way better.
