Great narration.

It was great to hear the detective’s perspective and dedication for this case. It is truly unbelievable.

Great True Crime

Well written, well performed. It grabs you from page one and really doesn't let up.

Wow....Evil for the sake of being evil

Wonderfuy written and narrated, Deadly Dose is a tragic tale of a senseless murder perpetrated solely for the suffering it would bring.

Good outweighs the bad

The narration was kind of weak (soft quiet voice, almost whispery at times), but like most audiobooks with a weak narrator I eventually got used to it. Her imitation of Ann Miller is perfect, she captures the helpless damsel/murderer vibe.

The story itself is maddening, Ann Miller is a true pile of garbage who got off WAY TOO EASY. I watched the 48 Hours episode and Chris Morgan struck me as a decent enough man who might be a little too impressed with himself. After listening to this, I’m pretty certain I was right. He fancies himself a “renegade”, and seems to really relish any opportunity to talk about himself...BUT, I also think his devotion to victims families is genuine and for that I think he’s pretty awesome.

Better than the movie

Grabbed this book knowing the story and wasn’t expecting much. Learned things I hadn’t heard before. Lost sleep because I was enjoying book so much. Definitely worth your time.

Good book about this true story

A very good book telling the story of this almost unbelievable crime, especially the emphasis in the police detective's role in pursuing justice and his empathy toward the victims. Narration was fine, except the attempts to give southern accents were a bit annoying to me.

It felt like SHE had written the story

just awful

This reads like an idolatrous tribute to a horrible man. I'm not sure what the writer was thinking.

At one point, the writer says something to the effect of, "he convinced a witness to travel to North Carolina without using deceit." the next sentence states that he did this by threatening to tell the witness's co-workers about what happened if he didn't come to North Carolina. Yes, he threatened a witness, who was not involved in the crime. He promised to keep this man's involvement quiet if he came out to NC (for the narcissistic reason that he didn't want to fly on an airplane). He then said the man's name in court and blamed the witness saying that he should have known this would happen.

The investigator comes across as a self-involved man who excuses any bad behavior in the name of "justice."

Very frustrating and annoying read. If the story had focused on the case, instead of the investigator, it probably would have been interesting.

Sleepy narration

I just could not get through this book, tried several times it was like the woman reading was trying to keep her voice down, kind of a cross between at times muttering and a very quick gossip over lunch.
That probably doesn't make sense but there it is, I wish Kevin Pierce had done the narration.
