I am so darn glad to be done with this book.

Overall, I like Susan Stoker and her books are an auto buy for me. Most of the time I’ll listen to the story imore than once.

This story, though, not so much. In fact, I’ll be returning it to get my credit back. I just did not like the heroine. I know she was supposed to be great hero of dogs who was also vulnerable and harboring childhood issues. I get that. And I was willing to go with that theory for the first dog rescue. However, after the second and definitely by the third dog rescue, I thought this had to be the stupidest girl.

Her stupidity was so far gone that it was hard for me to finish this book. Seriously, I could only listen to it in small doses before I was done. It took days for me to finish this book. I did finish it, though, I don’t feel any measure of happiness as I usually do when finishing a romance especially by a favorite author.

I was relieved to be done. It’s not just the stupid heroine, though, that made it hard to listen. It was the narrators male voices, especially the hero. Somehow she made him sound old and slightly constipated, not at all sexy.

Good read

Good book however, Sidney one of the main characters is very stupid. Just don't listen. I don't even know if she should have been rescued.

For the love of dogs

Susan Stoker leads us into the illegal dog fighting business when Sidney Hale attempts to rescue a dog and gets targeted by the man who trains dogs, pit bulls, into fighting machines. She is saved by Navy SEAL Decker “Gumby” Kincaid, who finds himself falling for this woman who suspects had a reason for her compulsion to rescue dogs.

I am always in awe of Susan Stoker’s stories—yes, they revolve around characters we have come to love, but as always, the plots she gives us, the twists and turns of every story, is always unique, making it a no-brainer for readers—old and new, to keep following her wherever she leads us.

This story was no different, dealing with an illegal dog fighting ring. I really cannot understand why there are people who think it is fun and exhilarating to watch what is literally man’s best friend, fight to the death. Yes, pities are fierce, but they can be the gentlest of creatures when showered with love and affection.

In the Philippines, there are provinces that I know of that sell dog meat, and even though it is now banned, I know that the black market is still thriving, and I hate it. I am glad that Susan Stoker, in her own way, has shed a light on such practices, and it is my hope that you, dear reader, can do what you can in your own town or city, to help raise awareness against these illegal activities.

This really is a good book/performance. But for me (tender heart for dogs), it was a little too graphic. I know it has a warning at the beginning,, but I tried it anyway. I enjoyed this couple's story.

amazing

as always it was another amazing example of Susan Stokers wonderful storie telling. I am always drawn in from the start to the characters. I cant wait for the next installment!!!!!!!!!! I cant get enough of her work.

The handy woman gets the SEAL

Sydney Hale, handy woman and dog rescuer, met Decker ‘Gumby’ Kincaid when he came upon her fighting with the man who was mistreating a pit bull. When Gumby adopted the badly injured dog, Sydney’s heart melted a little...but she feels that she’s out of his league...after all, her baby brother is a notorious serial killer. Gumby is drawn to the brave, outspoken woman and the pair become fast friends. Can Gumby get past Sydney’s insecurities and show her that she’s worth loving? Will the dog fighters become more of a threat than imagined?
Another captivating story in this new series. Looking forward to more.

Heroine is annoying

Although the author offers motivation for her female leads behaviors they are annoying. Too much of the book is slow due to repeated scenes of self examination. She is supposed to be a strong character attracting a strong character but it does work, in my view.

Engaging listen

I loved listening to Securing Sidney on audiobook. It had great narration, an engaging storyline, a swoon-worthy alpha hero, a heroine that I could like and root for, and Hannah, a rescue pit bull who was an absolute love bug!
Susan Stoker audiobooks are my go to listen when I need something I know will keep me entertained and invested.

We are on a roll now...

Now this book had a little bit more excitement. While I appreciated and applauded Sidney’s devotion to animals, she was border lining on obsessive. Her traumatic childhood definitely played a part and I wish we delved into it a bit more, but her response to animals and disregard for her safety was a bit much. On the other hand, it gave us a lovely entrance for Gumby and his connection to Sid.

Great story..Gumby was more patient than any SEAL I’ve ever seen. Watching Sid put herself in danger again, was hard to see, but her recovery definitely cured her of her “run in first, think later” attitude. As always, the guys are always there to help rescue a damsel in distress. Another great story..

Pleasant and Enjoyable

Good characters, nice story with a reasonable amount of conflict. I especially liked the Scrappy female lead.

Decker

Sidney is the sister of a famous serial killer and her life has been traumatized by this. She has a compulsion to rescue abused animals because of things she’d witnessed her brother do. She meets Decker when he interrupts a fight she’s in with an abusive dog owner and he rescues her. She does not make wise decisions and puts herself and Decker and the team in danger.

Wonderful

Susan Stoker have one again nailed it again. I listen to this book nonstop. Recommend.

Irritating

I loved Gumby, but found Sidney really frustrating. Lots of things about their relationship were very sweet and I understood and sympathised with the trauma she experienced and the compulsion it gave her to protect vulnerable dogs.

However, she knew she had a problem and refused to even consider getting help, even with everyone around her telling her she needed to stop before she was seriously hurt/killed. My biggest problem with her, though, was the fact that she lied to Gumby. After giving her word, she went looking for information she knew would drive her to put herself in danger. Even worse, she took someone else with her. IMO Gumby forgave her way too easily.

I did love Hannah, though, and her immediate bond with Gumby.

The narration was OK, but not great.

thoroughly enjoyed Susan Stoker navy SEAL books

I thoroughly enjoyed the book from the first book to the second book I recommend that you read them in order I really can't wait for the 13th of August for the third book in this series 2 come out I've already pre-ordered it she is a fabulous writer the storylines are very good it makes you believe that you are right there with them the story keeps you hooked that you can't put the book down or even if you have the audiobook you won't want to put it on pause at any time you just want to keep listening that's how good these books are so please hurry up and write some more of the other members of the navy SEAL team I heartily recommend this books by this author

I loved listening to this book from the series and enjoyed the storyline by Susan Stoker.
