Publisher's summary

After her capture by rebels in the mountains of Timor-Leste, Kalee Solberg doesn’t think she’ll live to see her father, friends, or hometown again. What started as an adventure with the Peace Corps until she figured out what to do with her life has turned into a waking nightmare, every day a struggle to survive. Beaten into submission, Kalee guesses she’s been presumed dead by now. And she has been...by everyone but one man.

A childhood filled with abuse and neglect has turned Forest “Phantom” Dalton into the kind of man who finishes what he starts. The failed mission to rescue Kalee Solberg is no exception. After discovering she’s still alive, that he and his SEAL team left her to a fate worse than death, Phantom will stop at nothing to bring her home, with or without permission...and no matter the cost to his career.

Neither Phantom nor Kalee could ever guess another equally grave threat awaits them back home.

Securing Kalee is the sixth book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliff-hanger endings.

Another Satisfying Happily Ever After

I had been looking forward to Kalee's story since we met Piper. It was definitely worth the wait!

The guest appearances were largely unexpected and very satisfying to end the series.

Amazon as always

I do both audio and read. Even though this is different people doing audio than Susan’s other series I still loved it. I really feel they did just as good of a job. Worth the purchase!

Not her best

I have read almost all of Stoker's books 2 or 3 times each. This was not her best. Yes, I will read it again but it seems a bit padded. Some judicious editing was warranted. It would have been better as a novella. update: after listening again, I changed my mind. At first I thought the subplot was week; it isn't Stoker's strongest. After realizing I have met crazies like Mona, I give it a pass.

OMG!

First I received this copy for free in return for an honest review.
This is by far the best book of this series and top 3 of my fav Susan Stoker books . This was not typical to this series or any of her other books or series but I loved the fact that this one dealt with the relationship between Phantom and Kalee as well as the deep respect that seals and other special special Ops hold for one another. If you haven’t read this series I highly suggest you do as they are all well written and this one for sure needs a box of tissues . All the emotions and feelings you feel will leave you breathless. And the ending where lots of people from other series appearing is just the way it should be .

Emotional Edge

Securing Kalee starts opens on an emotional edge and stays there for most of the story. This is definitely the book that you need to be in the mood to listen to. For the first several chapters we are immersed in the world of Kaylee. Where she is such a strong woman, but one that has a long way to fight her way back into the everyday world. And her champion, Phantom, he does the best that he can for her. Having been in similar situations, he is aware of her at all times. I did wonder at times how someone that suffered such trauma could be helped by just one person without seeing a professional. However, there are times to set aside reality and then there are times when the reality is that people often are strong enough that they never do seek professionals for their issues. This makes for a tough listen.

Phantom and Savannah both have their hurts and baggage. We get to see them both resolve issues and face the future. The ending as well as the epilogue was a very nice touch and a catch up with everyone. Savannah Peachwood was wonderful in narrating both Kalee and Phantom. She was able to enhance the story and keep the voices on an even keel even through the difficult emotions.

So worth the wait!

I had been waiting for this story for so long, and it did not disappoint. I loved getting a chance to finally discover Phantom's story and watch this side of him unfold that we didn't get to see in the earlier books. Kalee was a great character and watching her emerge from her shock and trauma was lovely. But, I really loved seeing the dynamics between the team as the wrestled with the issue of protecting each other versus never hiding anything from each other. Well done. .

Safe

I have been so anxious for Phantom and Kalee's story and the author did not disappoint! Phantom had to make a decision and knew he made the right one no matter what the consequences would end up being. The way he did little things to get Kalee through/ready certain situations was so hurt warming and her fierce protectiveness of him make them perfect for each other. This book was everything I had hoped it would be.
