Publisher's summary
Escape to unknown worlds.
As a master of the art of narrative and one of the leaders in the Golden Age of Science Fiction, L. Ron Hubbard’s Sci-Fi and Fantasy stories helped reshape the future of speculative fiction. The universe is yours as you explore fabulous worlds of unfolding mystery and unlimited potential. Discover the herald of possibility in these out-of-this-world adventures.
This 6-audiobook collection includes 20 short stories for 12 hours of immersive entertainment. All audiobooks are unabridged, full-cast productions with cinematic quality sound effects that bring the stories and characters to vivid life.
Titles and short stories in the Sci-Fi Short Stories Collection include: The Great Secret (with: “Space Can,” “The Beast,” and “The Slaver”), When Shadows Fall (with: “Tough Old Man” and “Battling Bolto”), A Matter of Matter (with: “The Conroy Diary,” “The Planet Makers,” and “The Obsolete Weapon”), Greed (with: “Final Enemy” and “The Automagic Horse”), Beyond All Weapons (with: “Strain” and “The Invaders”), and One Was Stubborn (with: “A Can of Vacuum” and “240,000 Miles Straight Up”).
You will love this collection because, as Publishers Weekly describes, “This fantastic production features a large supporting cast of readers, sound effects, and a variety of brilliant voices.” And Robert A. Heinlein calls L. Ron Hubbard a “master of the fast-action short story.”
Book Descriptions:
The Great Secret: Fanner Marston is a man whose greed and lust for power drives him through a blistering desert to the legendary city of Parva, where a secret awaits which will give him absolute control over all the universe. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Bruce Boxleitner, Jim Meskimen, Chuck White, and Lynsey Bartilson.
When Shadows Fall: Earth faces her final days in the grip of environmental collapse far into the future. Desperate, Earth Grand President Mankin dispatches three separate missions to seek help from far-flung colonial civilizations—or face certain obliteration. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Bob Caso, John Mariano, Phil Proctor, Jim Meskimen, Thomas Silcott, Robert Towers, and Fred Tatasciore.
A Matter of Matter: Meet Chuck Lambert who is guilty of letting his imagination get the best of his wits. Enter an unsavory real estate swindler of a galactic economy: he sells unwary customers a planet where they can’t sit down because there’s something the matter with its matter. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Michael Yurchak, Jim Meskimen, Corey Burton, and Tait Ruppert.
Greed: Far in the future exist two Earth empires, separated by walls of space, poised for war. And George Marquis Lorrilard, a sometime lieutenant in the United Continents Space Navy and now a space exploiter supposedly driven by greed, must change the fate of Earth and the stars. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Bob Caso, James King, Michael Yurchak, Noelle North, Phil Proctor, and David Paladino.
Beyond All Weapons: Firstin Guide and a handful of colonists escape from the long reach of a tyrannical Earth government imposing its will on their Martian habitat. They escape on a starship and flee to a new planet to engineer their revenge—yet they do not take into account the irrefutable passage of time. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Bob Caso, Jim Meskimen, Rick Pasqualone, Kelly Ward, Noelle North, and Tait Ruppert.
One Was Stubborn: Old Shellback’s the most stubborn man in the universe: he’s simply unwilling to watch the universe crumble and vanish, the product of an alleged agreement among the living to think it away. When Shellback won’t budge, he throws a wrench into the works. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Corey Burton, Bob Caso, Charles Durning, Jim Meskimen, Thomas Silcott, Phil Proctor, and Michael Yurchak.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Movies in the mind… I wish all audiobooks were produced like this
The stories are transportive and the production is truly Fantastic. I would love to see these stories on the big screen. Some of them are written in completely different styles and it’s refreshing to get a take on sci-fi like this. I had a lot of fun listening to this series of books.
