Publisher's summary

The seventh and never-before-published book in USA Today best-selling author Nicholas Sansbury Smith's propulsive postapocalyptic series about a soldier's mission to save the world.

An army advances....

In Europe, Master Sergeant Joe Fitzpatrick and Team Ghost return from a mission deep into enemy territory, only to find that the Variant army has grown stronger, and they are advancing toward the EUF's stronghold in Paris.

On the brink of civil war....

Back in the United States, President Ringgold and Dr. Kate Lovato are on the run. The safe-zone territories continue to rally behind the ROT flag, leaving Ringgold more enemies than allies. But there are still those who will stand and fight for America. Captain Rachel Davis and Captain Reed Beckham will risk everything to defeat ROT and save the country from collapsing into civil war.

homerun

Extinction War is the seventh book in the Extinction Cycle Series. One of the characters that the book focuses on is Master Sargent Joe Fitzpatrick, the new leader of Team Ghost. Team Ghost is a special forces team that has been fighting the devastating effects of a bio weapon created by the US Government by combining a super solder serum with the Ebola virus.
As the weapon quickly spreads around the world it turns the victims into mindless cannibalistic monsters. This is the story of how MSG Fitz (Fitzpatrick) is trying to help the United States allies combat the virus.
Then we also have Reed Beckham and Dr. Kate Lavato who thought that the war was over in the U.S. They were wrong as a mad man who is related to the original creator of the bio weapon tries to take over the United States by force.
This book is another home-run by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. Throughout the series Nick has created awesome characters that we can all relate to. A story that, in my opinion, is not that far-fetched and he even backs up his story with some science. Extinction War keeps you on the edge of your seat, keeps you reading no matter how much you want to put the book down. This story easily earned a five stars from me.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes The Tide series by Anthony J. Melchiorri or even likes a different take on the zombie apocalypse.

War is here!!

I don't know what to say about this book to do this justice!!! It was phenomenal. Everything I wanted and more.

It's all out war, both with the Variants and ROT! The battle for Europe is still going strong and Fitz and Apollo are knee deep in it. The Variants there are bigger, badder and harder to destroy than what they had in America, and it's all Fitz can do to keep Team Ghost alive. Meanwhile, in America, Beckham is battered and bruised but still fighting, well just about!! Horn is trying to keep Kate safe, President Ringgold is trying to hold onto her country, safe zones are allying with ROT and things look grim, especially with the Hemorrhage Virus being used against them, but nobody will go out without a fight!!!

This book just about broke me!! I was on the edge of my seat throughout and had such a hard time putting it down, but I also didn't want to keep reading because that meant that the series would end!! I wanted to devour it, but I didn't, I took my time reading it and just immersed myself in the War. I felt everything these characters felt, I cried with them and I laughed with them. I gasped, I was tense and I was terrified for them, I was completely captivated by these characters and their journeys. I'm sad to see it end, but also happy with the way it ended!! Not all the characters made it, and those that did were changed completely, but that's what makes it so good, so real!! That's what gives this series it's heart... the amazingly written characters!

The plot of this was extremely fast paced and intense!! Right from the start, we are thrown into the action of fighting the enemy, both in Europe and America. And boy does it get tense!! So many times had me gasping and going, no, no, no, NOOOO!! Then there were times where I was biting my nails and waiting to see what would happen next, and what happened next would break my heart, but other times would leave me smiling and going, yes!!!! It was an emotional rollercoaster, but so, so worth it! I want to talk about Piero, but I can't, I want to talk about Davis, but I can't, I wan't to talk about Beckham, but I can't!! There is so much I want to say, but I can't because it will spoil things.

In all, this book was phenomenal. As I said already, it was all I wanted and more! It even surpassed what I was expecting!! It was action packed, intense, an edge of your seat ride, emotional, and absolutely brilliant!! My heart has been captured by these characters and I do hope we see more from them, but if the author feels that their story has come to an end, then I'm ok with that!! Horn, Beckham and Fitz have come a long way and deserve a break ;) Fans of the series will love this because it wraps up everything perfectly.

Seriously guys, there are very, very few books that I recommend as passionately as I do this series. Go give them a go, you won't be sorry!!!

Bronson Pinchot nailed his performance. He brought this to life with the emotion he put into it. Every character has their own tone and personality and I couldn't picture anyone else as these amazing characters.

Another knockout punch of a book

Once again, Smith knocks it out of the park. Fitz is an awesome character, and Pinchot does a really good job voicing him and the rest of Team Ghost. I'm so glad this series has gone on like this. It never disappoints.

What a GREAT ending to a fantastic series!

Ya know how sometimes endings can kinda be a let down? Well that's not what happens here. NSS does an excellent job of ending this series, not that I wanted it to end, but so happy it was sooooo good!
Bronson Pinchot does an outstanding job narratoing this series and this book was no exception, all the voices and accent he did, man that scene with the Russian and Italian docs, Kate and Big Horn! Awesome!

Epic conclusion to an epic story!

Is it wrong for me to say I hope this isn’t the real end of the story?

I loved this series, from start to finish. I laughed, cried, shouted and cheered. The characters all feel like friends at this point and I hate the idea of not visiting with them again.

Reed’s strength and determination are impossible not to root for, his love for Kate and their unborn son keeps him fighting against impossible odds. Kate once again fighting her own scientific war with Reed her strongest motivation. Rachel Davis, mourning for all those she lost while continuing her fight to bring down Woods at any cost. Fitz fighting an almost impossible war on foreign soil against enemies that keep evolving into harder foes, his determination leading him and Team Ghost on. Ringgold fighting to save our country from a threat even worse than the Variants, always fighting to do what is right. These people are our heroes for good reason. They aren’t perfect, they live with regrets, but they always strive to do what’s best.

The action is non-stop, the twists and turns dizzying and this, the final ride, is the most epic ride of them all!

All It Takes Ia All You Got

I came a little late to the Extinction Cycle series but Oh Baby what a great series with action/drama and some of the worst (best) villains on Audible. Only sad part is it’s goodbye to Team Ghost & Fitzie/Beckum and my favourite of all Apollo. Long live Apollo.
Great narration by Bronson, great depth of characters. Highly recommend this series to all Post Apocalyptic fans. Ranks with the best.
